A somewhat bizarre smorgasbord beckons this week, even by the usual standards of Captain Hobbidy and the starship Nerdtonia. A cancer (it's Daffodil Day) and abortion double bill bookend appearances by LLS stalwart Keith Barry, and Conor Moore. Conor is a client of NK Management, isn't that nice, boys and girls?

Also, some SoCoDub hairdresser type. Never heard of him in my life, but he's to be found in every salon and aircraft aisle in the country, and with increasing regularity on the LLS. That's him there. On the Late Late Show.

"This week's Late Late Show line-up has been revealed, with former Republic of Ireland captain and manager Mick McCarthy, magician Keith Barry and celebrity hairstylist Andrew Fitzsimons among the guests.

McCarthy is joining the show in aid of Daffodil Day and will speak about both his parents and the long-lasting imprint they both left on his life.

Meanwhile, Ireland and Leinster pro Andrew Porter, who sadly lost his mother Wendy to cancer when he was just 12 years old, will shave his head live to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society on Daffodil Day."

As above, the "light" and "entertainment" boxes of this "flagship light entertainment show" are dutifully ticked by Barry and Moore.

"With his very own show on Golf Channel on NBC and hundreds of millions of views online, impressionist and comedian Conor Moore will be on the show this Friday with his hilarious take on an array of famous Irish characters.

Ireland’s favourite master of magic and mentalist Keith Barry will dazzle and amaze The Late Late Show audience with some illusions and hypnotic experiences."

Aswide from the aforementioned hairdresser (celebrity hairdresser, apparently), the closeout misery slot is what, on the face of it, appears to be a particularly jarring one-no comment from me on the suitability of this content for a supposed entertainment programme.

"Ryan Tubridy will also talk to Amy Dunne, who, when she was just 17 years old, became embroiled in one of the most contentious debates in Irish society as she found herself going to court to demand the right to travel to the UK for a termination after her baby was diagnosed with a fatal foetal abnormality.

She will discuss how her very private story became extremely public, the impact that had on her and why she no longer feels shame about what happened."

    Music by...er...Ceol?

I love the use of the word 'revealed', when it comes to telling us who is going to be on.

"This week's Late Late Show line-up has been revealed"

As if we are all sitting in excitement waiting for some huge big reveal.

And of course, the topic of the Kardashians and even their hairdresser, would be much too low brow for our well-read and educated host, unless of course its good to fill time on the nations flagship chat show.

A bit off topic, but looking at the NK Talent pool, and the website "revealing" them, do you think that their position on the grid represents not their salaries, but their "contribution" to NKTM??

from what I know of the line up it looks a far too cheerful show. Does one or more of the guests have some bad news to announce ?

Did Andrew have a range of haircare for Penneys before?

If the audience are forced to wear RTE provided black masks tomorrow night despite no legal requirement to in this country, RTE should be before a war crimes tribunal. Additional enquiries should be made in to how the contract for these black mask were fulfilled.

If employees were deemed too sick to be around de unmasked they should wurk from home so to speak.

No need to worry, Mick will be speaking about the DEATH of his parents and Andrew Porter about the DEATH of his mother due to CANCER. Two guests from the world of sport, should be fun.

And we have the trauma of dealing with a fatal foetal abnormality and all that brings.

I have pink prosecco and a fish cake samitch to get me through.

Through the Late Late I mean because after all.....

Mick McCarthy is a man I have nothing but love for.

And all of you here on the thread, you know I love you all dearly.

But I will not ever give one second of my time to anything with the words "celebrity hairstylist" attached to it.

    See yis next week.

Andrew Porter's mother, Wendy, died of cancer. Tattoo of her name on his arm.

I presume Mick is appearing to promote Daffodil Day, hence the personal stories about his parents.
