A somewhat bizarre smorgasbord beckons this week, even by the usual standards of Captain Hobbidy and the starship Nerdtonia. A cancer (it's Daffodil Day) and abortion double bill bookend appearances by LLS stalwart Keith Barry, and Conor Moore. Conor is a client of NK Management, isn't that nice, boys and girls?

Also, some SoCoDub hairdresser type. Never heard of him in my life, but he's to be found in every salon and aircraft aisle in the country, and with increasing regularity on the LLS. That's him there. On the Late Late Show.

"This week's Late Late Show line-up has been revealed, with former Republic of Ireland captain and manager Mick McCarthy, magician Keith Barry and celebrity hairstylist Andrew Fitzsimons among the guests.

McCarthy is joining the show in aid of Daffodil Day and will speak about both his parents and the long-lasting imprint they both left on his life.

Meanwhile, Ireland and Leinster pro Andrew Porter, who sadly lost his mother Wendy to cancer when he was just 12 years old, will shave his head live to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society on Daffodil Day."

As above, the "light" and "entertainment" boxes of this "flagship light entertainment show" are dutifully ticked by Barry and Moore.

"With his very own show on Golf Channel on NBC and hundreds of millions of views online, impressionist and comedian Conor Moore will be on the show this Friday with his hilarious take on an array of famous Irish characters.

Ireland’s favourite master of magic and mentalist Keith Barry will dazzle and amaze The Late Late Show audience with some illusions and hypnotic experiences."

Aswide from the aforementioned hairdresser (celebrity hairdresser, apparently), the closeout misery slot is what, on the face of it, appears to be a particularly jarring one-no comment from me on the suitability of this content for a supposed entertainment programme.

"Ryan Tubridy will also talk to Amy Dunne, who, when she was just 17 years old, became embroiled in one of the most contentious debates in Irish society as she found herself going to court to demand the right to travel to the UK for a termination after her baby was diagnosed with a fatal foetal abnormality.

She will discuss how her very private story became extremely public, the impact that had on her and why she no longer feels shame about what happened."

    Music by...er...Ceol?
