First time covid. Triple vaxxed. Always careful re covid. Felt a bit off on Monday evening. Temperature rising Tuesday morning. Tested positive antigen and self isolated in room. Wednesday I was really bad and into Thursday with all symptoms except the runs. The OH got symptoms too but was able to function mostly at slow pace. Kids symptoms mild enough. I'm still with cough and aches and fatigue. Just heard the inlaws now have it. It came from the primary school. I was supposed to be flying to USA tomorrow for work and specialised training, but had to cancel.

Quick question (and maybe a little stupid).

I did my first antigen test today (previously had a couple PCR - all negative).

The antigen test says to wait 15-30 mins for result.

After taking test and dropping the 4 droplets into the test, a line showed in the T almost immediately (less than 1 min) and in the C shortly after (minute later).

I’m guessing this indicates positive even though I didn’t need to wait the 15 minutes.

    Thanks.

no covid here but easily the most vile dose ive had in years

ten days of sore throat , phlegmy cough , headache and chestiness , other half only recovered from one bout and is now back into another second helping , its rampant whatever dose is doing the rounds right now

Thanks! No symptoms but I’ve to go to an event tomorrow. I’ll be missing it so.

Are you sure it's not covid? Sounds v similar to what I've got, and I do get exceedingly faint but definitely present positives on the tests.

We all had covid over Christmas, first the kiddos then triple vacc adults.. now today daughter has a blocked nose, sneezy- did an antigen to reassure her as her classmate got a positive on Sat and she is positive again.. in less that 3 months.. she has no underlying issues.. how can this be? To get it so soon again..

Very faint line on the antigen, within the 15 minute window. Does that mean a lower level of the virus?

Or you’re just coming down with it.

Anyone know how long to expect the antigen test to remain positive?

    (how many days)

    TIA

    Yep! Tomorrow will tell..

About 3/4 days after symptoms go.. but you don’t have to have a clear antigen to go back to work.. just need to be symptom free and 7 days isolating if unvaccinated

Mine was positive for nine days, but it could be different for everyone.

Yeah, my positive test last Wednesday was a VERY strong line and the same for a few days. Last 3 days, the line on subsequent test are faint and very narrow. Looking at yesterdays and todays right now, side by side and the one today is almost invisible. I take it that there is less virus to make a full reaction, but there is still virus present.

Note worthy that my self isolation was to end on Wednesday, but I am very obviously still riddled with the C19. so keeping away from people.

Yeah, tomorrow I'll have been isolating a week, but still snotty and coughing and spluttering and sore throaty. Back and chest pains and fever seem be finished, thankfully. But still, obviously not venturing forth for a while yet..

I remember reading that a really faint line like that after a week or so means the level of virus is now so low that you would not be a risk to anyone.

My test the next day - dark line came up even before the C had a chance to come up.

Can you remember where you read it? If it was on boards, it's probably safe to ignore :P

No it was an article online, the same quote was reported on a number of different sites: https://www.dublinlive.ie/news/dublin-news/what-faint-line-covid-antigen-22603306

I don't rely on Dublin Live for my news; as I said it was more widely reported.

"If the faint line appears after the window, the most likely cause is either that there has been some contamination (e.g. food or drink, or some other weak contaminant), or there are just very low levels of the virus. If it is the latter, and obviously assuming you are asymptomatic at this point, then you are unlikely to be a transmission risk."

Different strain than the first time is the most logical explanation

That was the case with me. Faint line on Friday when I barely had symptoms (v slightly blocked nose) and it got stronger when I tested again after a day or two and my symptoms were more apparent, although still quite mild)

Into Day 13/14 of this weird dose.. Not as bad but still a lingering sore throat/phlegm/hoarse and congestion. Had covid original strain March 2020 and it’s not the same as that although I still did antigens to confirm (all negative).. Doctor suspected (was phone consult) strep throat and put on 10day antibiotic Calvepen. Has kind of gotten slightly bad since off the antibiotics 😬

Had a group of us positive (10). Vaxxed and unvaxxed. All 9 days even if no symptoms.

Came down with severe headache and shivers at lunchtime yesterday. Clear + on 2 AntiG's. Got home about 7 and straight to bed. Very invasive bug. I had flu twice in my life and this is the closest to that feeling (but maybe not quite as bad)

Weird dreams with odd imagery- which I kinda enjoy. Treating it with solpadiene, lots of water, hash and even having a few glasses of wine now. I'm kinda in a bind with possibly having to work within 7 days isolation but I'll figure that out.

    Double vaxed, not boosted.

Anyone know how long PCR results are taking from HSE at present?

Alcohol was the last thing I wanted when I had it. Chewy sweets though .. kept me going.

Triple vaxed and first time having COVID. 9 year contracted from school Monday. Got positive antigen yesterday. Sore throat and fever last three days so hopefully that starts to wane soon.
