How much are people making on the 2020 / 2021 bottles when you factor in the CW fees?

I just had a look at the auction.

Why are the older MVR bottles sometimes cheaper than the newer releases?

Another thing I noticed is that the 2017 new design is going for €675 at the minute, but the old design 2017 is €500?

    2017 new bottle €675 vs 2018 bottle is €360

Is it just supply and demand?

I actually have a new design 2017 bottle, and would prefer a 2018 one, but am wondering about the €315 price gap..

You do alright on the 2020, as it's worth more. but I think that was the point most people jumped on the bandwagon, so lots of 2021 bought just to resell.

People probably making €40 or so off a bottle of 2021. There's 13 2021s in the Celtic Whiskey auction that looks to be ending today. €190 up to €310 so far. So some people might only break even if they are lucky I'd say.

Edit: Actually, in their last auction, it ranged from €310 to €405. But less bottles in that auction it seemed.

They ended up selling from €230 up to €355. Not great for a seller who got the lower end of the scale.

Wow, the 2017 new style bottle went for a nice amount. I might sell mine, and buy a 2018.

Try buying one..... the definition of rare would seem to be accurate then.

Anyone aware of where I could track down a bottle of MVR 2022 in Dublin?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,741 ✭✭✭Effects

There's a list posted in one of the previous suppliers, try calling them.

Do Midleton publish how many bottles are going to be released in the year?

You need to know someone to get one it seems! I'd love to try it but looks like I'll have to buy a bottle in the auctions

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,741 ✭✭✭Effects

There's better whiskey out there for less money. But I can understand you wanting to try it and find that out for yourself.

Where are you based? I can probably get you a bottle of 2022 at retail cost if you really want it.

I forgot to get back to you, but I did ask at the time, and I had missed out as didn't ask for it earlier. He's got my name down for the next release, which I think is November. I don't think I'll want to get one for myself, so I'll check back in with you at the time.

It's almost too sad to admit... But I've just reserved a 2023 MVR.

We're not even half way thru 2022

    I've always gotten multiple mvrs.

In the last few years its gotten a bit more difficult, but not impossible.

I've gotten enough for my collections, (my kids each have a collection of MVR that they don't know about) but hoping to get another '22 or 2 to have as a spare/swop or to open.
