According to weather forecast there will be winds coming from the north during the next week around the power plant. In case of a nuclear emergency Crimea, Georgia, Turkey, Romania and Bulgaria might be directly affected from nuclear fallout.

If it does meltdown it would normally be able to contain it, but you’re looking at a highly unusual mess now with emergency personal maybe being unable to access it.

it will do huge damage to Crimea and parts of Russia if anything happens.

The last 2 days to me looks like Putin's plan is to leave a bit of Ukraine left landlocked and absolutely decimated and destroyed and a Nuclear power plant is a small price to pay for him. A hamstrung dismembered Ukraine with their best and brightest either dead, left or collaborating will be all that'll be left to rebuild from the rubble.

Wind looks to be going from West to East (Donetsk) and beyond for the next day or so. This is stupidity beyond comprehension.

Of all the stupid and insane things I've witnessed this last week.... This was not on my bingo card

Holy f**k. The fire brigade went in, flashing lights, stayed for a minute then turned around and went back.

Is that what everyone else just seen?

The missus is at home visiting the family in Brazil and due back in a week. For the first time seeing this play out at the nuclear plant, I've just told her she should start to consider staying there for an extended period.

Its just getting worse. Escalation upon escalation. I don't think NATO can overlook this attack.

Is the Russian military and government really this stupid and boorish?

As if the world hasn’t had enough with COVID and the last couple of years of hell. Just as we were all looking like some semblance of normality was on the horizon - 🤯

I’m sick of the apologists and the fence sitters, including China, India and various others who have the diplomatic power to reign this in and are more concerned about money or geopolitical games of hypothetical chess.

It’s the saddest era I have seen in my thus far lifetime. I am so glad my mother went out on a high aged 89 in 2009, having had 4 holidays that year plus looking forward to several more at time of death plus potential 90th hooley Her end years were bliss.

I feel utterly sick. What is all this madness for? Because one man felt slighted in his dealings with other world leaders? Madness madness madness. Putin is a terrorist.

Yeah saw that and it's not a surprising announcement, but it's unlikely a cyber attack would trigger article 5 IMHO as the burden of proof would be too high.

Although all conflict around the world saddens me, I do reserve a slightly higher level of concern for one that could spark WW3 and wipe us all out. Crazy, I know...

Yes because that's what we need, further escalation.

It amazes me how some folks seem to just want to march on forward to nuclear oblivion.

The directer general of the International Atomic Energy Agency was interviewed earlier today on CNN. He said they would offer Ukraine any assistance needed to maintain the safety of their plants. IIRC the agency was in dialogue with both sides, no doubt to guarantee the absolute safety of anyone they sent in, but from the sound of it they weren't getting the assurances required. I think their worst fears are playing out right before are eyes.

CNN link only covers his remakes on Putins nuclear readiness levels.
