Wind looks to be going from West to East (Donetsk) and beyond for the next day or so. This is stupidity beyond comprehension.
The last 2 days to me looks like Putin's plan is to leave a bit of Ukraine left landlocked and absolutely decimated and destroyed and a Nuclear power plant is a small price to pay for him. A hamstrung dismembered Ukraine with their best and brightest either dead, left or collaborating will be all that'll be left to rebuild from the rubble.
If it does meltdown it would normally be able to contain it, but you’re looking at a highly unusual mess now with emergency personal maybe being unable to access it.
it will do huge damage to Crimea and parts of Russia if anything happens.

According to weather forecast there will be winds coming from the north during the next week around the power plant. In case of a nuclear emergency Crimea, Georgia, Turkey, Romania and Bulgaria might be directly affected from nuclear fallout.

Yes, but remember they were very quick to take Chernobyl, and shortly afterwards, radiation levels rose from all the dust being disturbed on the ground, as it was radioactive. While undisturbed, it remained "passive" (so to speak) but once moved, it "re-actvated".

They are fairly knowledgeable people saying that the control building is on fire, not an administration building.
That plant contains 6 pressurised water reactors. They’re more like what’s used in most of the western world and not like the rather strange graphite moderated reactors at Chernobyl.
The plant is partially offline due to the war but at least half of the reactors are fully in service. The offline reactors were very recently in service and would be cooling fuel.
It takes days if not weeks to do a complete cold shut down, during which the reactors need water circulation pumps abs other equipment, which is powered from the electrical grid, or backup diesel generators.
If any of that equipment is damaged and can’t be used, there’s a very significant risk of a nuclear meltdown and explosions like at Fukushima.
What they’re doing right now is unbelievable stupid and incredibly dangerous. It’s literally beyond belief that anyone would do such a thing.

Do the soldiers know what they are doing? Everyone will die nearby if radiation leaks.
It's only up the road from Crimea. I thought part of the point of this whole jaunt was to improve conditions for the Russians there?
