You were right, I checked the application today and it was dispatched today. If it helps anyone get some relief and a bit of hope with first time applications I had a 5 week wait from when documents were received. I sent them on January 14th and the office received them January 21st. Took 4 weeks to change to processing and then a week later it was printing and dispatched

I am starting to get hopeful now based on some of the good news stories some of you have kindly posted. I submitted my sons first time application on 30th January (not knowing how backlogged the passport office was). The estimated due date is 21st April and we are due to fly to tge U.S. on the 22nd of April which doesnt give us enough time for visa application. I have to cancel my flights 2 weeks prior to flight date to be eligible for a voucher, am I wrong for thinking there is a glimmer of hope to receive before the 7th of April??

What is your tracker showing at the minute? For reference my estimated date was March 28th and the application was finalised & dispatched February 28th. Also is it a pretty straight forward application, I have seen circumstances where the child’s parents were born in different countries and the passport office took longer about verifying those documents with the particular country they were related to.

I've been following a lot on here and am currently waiting on our little ones first, you applied 2wks after us and we have estimated date of 31st March, so going by that you'll be on or around April 14th, give or take a day or 2.

Now its 1st March today, my status bar seems to be moving down quite quickly so Hugh chance we'll get it before 31st

First time application here for my son, sent on Feb 14th, received Feb 16th but the tracking never updated since.

Got onto the live chat (https://www.dfa.ie/passports/contact/#) and refreshed the page each minute until it went green. History goes like:

"So whatever the tracker is showing, it must not be updating accurately at the moment because from what I can see on our system it is processing as normal. I can see the documents have been received and registered on the application. There is currently an estimated issue date of 14/04/2022."

So don't depend on the Application ID tracking esp for a Passport Express / paper application and try the live chat to confirm its all running ok.

It is showing that it has our documents and is verifying these. Yes, it should be straight forward, both parents are Irish and he was born in Ireland. Just have to cross my fingers and hope for the best I suppose.

Anyone know if you have to send in child’s birth cert for renewal?

We were not asked for it for our kids renewals.

Does anyone knows how long it takes before the tracker shows that the children renewal documents were received? Anpost says that they were delivered yesterday morning, however tracker is stil showing a message that they are waiting for the docs.

Thank you! My sister has just been asked for her daughter’s birth cert for a renewal. I can’t see anywhere on the website that says it’s required.

Some people have had their tracker update after 4 ish working days. My docs were received on 4 Feb and tracker still not updated. It’s seems to be pot luck as to whether the tracker will work or not.

Depends, in January my partner sent his documents for first time application, delivered 10th by an post, tracker updated received on 11th.

However recently some peoples are taking 4+ weeks, so don't worry, they definitely got delivered, just haven't been opened and scanned into the system yet.

i renewed my other daughters passport and birth cert wasn't needed just the consent form.

    Thanks.

My sister is being asked for her daughter’s birth cert for a renewal. She got through to them and the lady said you are not required to send in a birth cert but now that it has been requested, you have to send it in. The lady’s explanation was: “I don’t work in verification. I don’t know why they need it”. They got her documents 3 weeks ago.

    has anyone come across this?

I renewed my passport online on Sunday evening and my new passport arrived in the post today - incredibly fast service

Update: Tracker now shows that the documents have been received and the estimated issue date is 25/03.

If they need it, they need it. Probably need it to update their records or to correct an error.

Status just updated today, March 3rd.

My partners first time application: we sent in new Garda witness form (had to resubmit this after the first Garda didn't fill in the log book), arrived Monday 28th, updated today docs received and estimated date is 25/03, originally when we sent in first documents on january 11th the estimate date was 15/03, so the delay is not very long at all.

Email at 1pm today saying they'd rejected picture, took a new one and sent it to them within the hour, just checked and document printing with a date of 16th March (was 31st)

Quick update my sons 1st time application went from processing to printing to despatched all today had an estimate of 01/04/22 I'd say the new staff and overtime are speeding things up eventually.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 69 ✭✭Fairin

just wondering was this an online or paper application? They got my son’s documents on 4 Feb, tracker still saying send in the docs and on the phone they said the estimated date is 13 April. A longer timeframe than yours

    thanks!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,601 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

    Online application.

The photo used was one of the online services in a pharmacy where they give you a code to enter as the photo. So it could be that the photo part of the process has already been completed for me? Just trying to think of a reason why.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 85 ✭✭ucsie

The speed up only seems to apply to straight forward applications.

We are both foreign parents and we are waiting for the first passport since June (with extra documents sent in November). I know a few more people with non Irish parents who are also waiting for months.
