the woke vodafone ad with the bog standard mixed race family watching the rugby.

  • Registered Users Posts: 865 ✭✭✭DarkJager21

I still think that Viagra ad would be a hundred times better if he fell down the stairs at the start of it and punched a little hole in the wall, just let the brand appear on screen as he tumbles out of view 😂

That Ask Paul ad that is on during Eoin McGees financial planning show.

Why is he buttoning up his suit?

The little fella that bursts the bean bag, I'd make him pick them up, one at a time.

Financial institutions backing courage, doers, brave, dreamers. No, you are there to maximize your profits.

Them ads delivering high process ready meals to OAPs. Poor feckers deserve better

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,827 ✭✭✭madmaggie

@Xander10 a bit like the homecare ads. I know a few people doing that work, everything timed to the last second. No sitting down for a nice chat, racing from one client to the next.

Any ad that has to make up a word, Knorr I’m looking at you this week 🙄

Colgate - mainly because it was a baffling advert going on about empowerment for people from various backgrounds. Caught it half way through and was trying to guess what it was about.

Example Chef with Down Syndrome - Tagline ' They said he could not be a chef - it's in his smile.

What has Toothpaste got to do with empowerment?

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Maybe the poor fecker on the moulding machine making the caps is getting €1.50 per day instead of €1.00.

There is something really off about the homecare industry compared to their advertising. A lot of those companies are paying the carers minimum wage and treat them like sh1t while at the same time they are charging the HSE 30 euros an hour for their services.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,812 ✭✭✭CoBo55

Nothing new about that. I worked for a fella who had toolmakers hired in to factories, they were getting the union rate, he was getting three times that from the factories. Nice work if you can get it😉😉

Spar ad on the radio atm

    “I’ve found the new Messi”

(Lists a load of impressive footballing skills/feats)

”….it’s my 10 year old daughter”

WOW Spar, what an amazing and unthinkable switcheroo there, really could never see it coming in this day and age. Jaysus this unbelievably transparent and unoriginal corporate pandering is tiresome

Is that the one with the weird pronounciation of Caribbean?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,239 ✭✭✭Pussyhands

I don't want to sound like I'm defending the companies but the rate the agency pays and the rate they charge have to be different. There's extra costs a company pays for an employee, uniforms, employers PRSI, fuel allowances etc.

The '3 x salary' was generally the standard approach in my IT consulting days, not that unusual. The really crappy bits about that industry are the lack of training and support, the requirement to travel on your own time and money to do short minimum wage assignments.

ah yeah for sure, they have to make a profit. But theres something off to me about a carer getting close to minimum wage for literally cleaning up **** and piss. They dont get paid between calls and nor is their travel between them paid as an expense so theyre actually working for less than minimum wage. Its tough enough work without having those conditions on top.

I know a carer who comes to a relative of mine and they're useless.

The things they're supposed to do, shower them, wash their face, feed pets etc. They do none of it.

All they do is light the fire and make coffee.

Has anyone mentioned the Citron radio advert, about an uncomfortable car journey because the stupid husband forgot to book the restaurant, and did other stupid things that his smart wife had to sort out and save the day. Why cant they stop doing these cringy adverts that always paint the man in the relationship as a stupid fool who needs his wife to do everything. it is not funny.

What happened when the family complained to the carer's agency?

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,215 ✭✭✭✭Suckit

The Audi advert with Janelle Monae. It's just irritating, Not sure exactly what it is..

Mine or yours. Reason or fun.. Sesame Street or Muppet Show..

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,239 ✭✭✭Pussyhands

It's a HSE carer. Not sure if they're agency staff via the HSE or not but they're not employed directly by the person involved anyways.

As far as I know, they haven't complained because what's the point? The worker won't be redeployed or change their ways. That's their view, I told them complain anyways but I'm not sure it would work out well. If a carer has to be told to do something, you'd hardly expect them to do it with the most care.

  • Registered Users Posts: 28,459 ✭✭✭✭AndrewJRenko

If they're not going to complain, things aren't going to improve.

Though there is a shortage of staff in that sector, given the poor working conditions.

Those RTE radio 1 ads advertising Claire Byrne and Sarah Mc/Cormac O'hEadhra shows are back.

The imaginary "day to day annoyances" as a large breasted woman says "to be honest, we're sick of the sight of each other", which I initially thought was about the parents, but I think is about the kid and the mother. Then Claire chimes in "it's hard to get the work life balance right" as she supposedly looks at the child but the ad was made during covid so she's actually looking about 4 inches above the childs head.

Then the other one for Sarah Mc/O'hEadhra show has a builder talking about "I can't imagine what it's like for a young lad starting out now". O'hEadhra is nibbling at a chocolate digestive creepily following the builder with his eyes. Builder says "you just have to get on with it" or something to that effect and O'hEadhra chirpily cheeps "you really do, you have to keep going" to which the builder responds "MMMM" as if he's just disregarding the little creep nibbling on a chocolate biccy in the kitchen.

Absolutely no idea who Janelle monae....& don't really care......but that ad doesn't work on any level. Pity really, as that car looks very desirable

Racism is now hiding behind the cloak of Community activism.

With Now TV subscriptions, you get the UK TV ads fed over here. And there is one at the minute from a greeting card company promoting Valentine's Day where the (inter-racial) couple communicate in dolphin clicks. Tag-line is something like 'express your love in any language'

The fella looks very like Fred who plays for Man United and the woman is very peculiar in appearance.

    It is truly awful.

The ad on RTE for the new show Peataí. The girl pronounces it all wrong as Pattie instead of Pathee . It grates on the ear and is absolutely ridiculous that no one has actually twigged it and corrected it

Someone mentioned it previously so I looked it up on Youtube out of curiosity. Jesus Christ, its terrible. Its a company called Thortful, even their name manages to be annoying.
