The level of irresponsibility in the west is criminal. They're pointing their NATO war heads at Moscow. Remember how the Americans didn't like it when the Russians shipped rockets to Cuba? They are provoking fire. Filatov is one of the sane voices in all this. All he is saying is they want a kind of 'no man's land' between the west and Russia. That is reasonable and promotes peace. But NATO are having none of it.

It looks like history is starting up again.

How did the EU and America interfere with the government in Ukraine? Don't parrot Russian talking points, tell us how they interfered.

We should defend our way of life to an extent that any attempt on it is crushed, so that any adversary will never make such an attempt in the future.

Repeating yourself doesn't make you right, do try to read posts before posting lies.

This is just a meaningless word salad of deflection. It contains literally nothing of any substance. It carries no defence of your position, and shamelessly makes an allegation of lying, which is laugh out loud hilarious given who is writing the post. But it does help to derail the thread and it does try to drag other posters down to your level, which has been transparently your aim throughout the whole thread, and is Russia's favourite tactic in terms of propaganda and disinformation in general.

Unfortunately I have already. But they are full of 'what about this, what about that'.

    Deflect, Deflect, Deflect.

When have NATO declared war on anybody? This irrational 'NATO warheads' makes no sense.

Independent democratic counties request to join a defensive alliance. They are not coerced in any way, or forced. Indeed many of the countries Russia doesn't want included in the alliance, are only they're to protect themselves from Russia.

I have read your posts. I and everybody else here can see exactly what you are trying to do, which is to deflect, bait and switch, whatabout, introduce red herrings, do anything except debate the actual topic at hand in a good faith manner.

    As you do again here.

You seriously think there is any difference the relentless push for the Iraq war in the US under the Bush regime and the relentless push for a Ukraine war in Russia under Putin? No of course you don't. Nobody with a straight face does.

But I actually can think of one key difference. Iraq was run by a brutal, tyrannical dictator, and grotesque as the decision to wage that war was, nobody shed a single tear for the Saddam Hussein regime.

In this case, the brutal, tyrannical dictatorship is Russia, and it already HAS gone to war against its neighbour - a free, sovereign democracy.

Russia has been waging war against Ukraine since 2014!

A tyrannical dictatorship occupies a free, sovereign democracy, and now is threatening to greatly expand an insane war of imperialism which has already needlessly claimed 15,000 lives.

So yes, there very definitely ARE good guys AND bad guys here. Any Irish person who is aware of this situation and is not in full sympathy with the cause of Ukraine and its people is a traitor to their own history.

Utter nonsense. Russia demands the right to dictate to its neighbour how its affairs should be run. That is colonialism, imperialism, dictatorship.

The fascist criminal mafia dictatorship of Putin's Russia has zero right to tell Ukraine how to run its affairs. And it has no right to tell any other country how to run its affairs either.

Viktor Yanukovych was a puppet of Putin and slaughtered his own people in cold blood. That's the sort of leader the likes of you want and will defend.

A point in relation to a number of media posts elsewhere in relation to US President Biden falling into Russias trap, I think it is important to point out, Russia is run by an opportunist power base, Putin could well be its mouthpiece. With such an organisation when plan A does not work they go to plan B and then to plan C and so on. Putin is in a corner as his plans are constantly been found out, possibly by a mole in his circle or maybe an FSB agent who think Russia is gone loco. either way the west is not always falling into traps, it just looks like that. Will Russia invade, who knows, I don't. If they do, things will fall apart for Russia as there is no way at all it would work out for them no matter how the PR guys spin it on Russia today TV.

Low-knowledge b*llsh*t. The US and Russia have a treaty since the mid-90s to mutually de-target their strategic missile systems from each other.

Low-knowledge, conspiracy peddling, obfuscation and tall tales. That's all we're getting from the Putinistas.

Your posts are garbled nonsense copied and pasted from other Putin cranks on the internet.

You neglected to mention the 'tyrannical dictator' in Iraq was both enabled and supported by your good friends in the States. When he was their good friend and he was gassing Kurd's in halabja, the great defenders of human rights in the US tried to cover for him...the US have always had a very flexible relationship with their morals and dictators...Suharto, Pinochet anyone??? So climb down off that sanctimonious pedestal you've built for yourself and the imperial forces you're a fan boy of and leave your lectures on morality at the door.

Jesus, coming from you that's gas, you've been on this thread more than anyone and you've yet to make a single comment that contains anything remotely insightful or intelligent.

So I tell you to read my posts and you post a reply indicating you haven't...sorry I can't help you, try again, good lad.

Funny how the US are the ones scaremongering about potential war. Suppose it's not their first time!

    Ukraine saying it's not likely.

You can read in to it what you like. I'm not attacking you, but you have to accept that your views and political and societal positions might sometimes meet push back in a forum where such things are up for debate.

I'm not calling for you to be no platformed, others may but I disagree with it.

Sunlight is the best disinfectant and you still are entitled to push your views.

What's interesting about this is that it's not just the US with access to data. Reuters is puling satellite imagery from privately owned satellites, for example, and they're not calling the US released information out as being wrong. Analyst groups, similarly, are drawing conclusions from non-US government sources.

As Kofman observed in one of his pieces, the idea that you can 'build up' conventional forces in today's world without it being obvious to the entire world is delusional. What becomes important instead is how you build the narrative around it, and also how quickly you can transition from 'buildup' to 'pre-conflict dispersion' to reduce reaction time. It's a different sort of challenge, but that the equipment is being moved seems generally uncontested by anyone with access to the data, be they members of NATO or not.

So you're saying the US are telling the truth while Ukraine, the country supposedly to be imminently invaded is saying it's not likely, are the ones lying?

The US are more worried about a Ukraine invasion than Ukraine are

Who is defending the US's support for Saddam Hussein in the 1980s? How is it in any way relevant to the current situation where Russia is threatening to greatly expand the grotesque war it is already waging against Ukraine?

You are here literally shamelessly supporting and propagandising for those who started this grotesque war. I don't see anybody else cheerleading the deliberate starting of war apart from the pro-Russia mob here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,422 ✭✭✭Snooker Loopy

Ukraine is already invaded. Russia already illegally occupies part of it. Russia has launched major cyber attacks against Ukraine and tried to fake the results of its election via cyber warfare. The people of Ukraine already live daily with the reality of a Russian war against it. That is why they are stoic.

But the people of Ukraine are preparing on a very large scale for what they fear will happen - a full scale invasion. If you haven't seen any of the many reports from Ukraine of how they are doing this you must be living under a rock.
