DNA on who ? The dog you haven't got at the moment or the 200 witnesses.

People might find it hard to accept that someone not willing to abide by the law, pay the few Bob to have your dog chipped would buy a lifetime license.

Pay up and stop wasting peoples time.

Oh, FFS, would you ever just go and get the poor dog out of the pound!

Seriously, what sort of a war do you think you're waging here, and who honestly cares, while the dog is stuck in a cage in the pound?

I can easily get a DNA test done as well to prove they've stolen my dog and refuse to give it back!

Imagine the lab technician’s surprise when your semen’s a match!

Since around 200 people have seen me walk the dog and CCTV can show me walking it, dog is all over my Facebook, I can do a DNA test if requested, I'm pretty sure I can get my dog back as I have enough proof and dog license.

I'm not been held ransom and that's the end of it and one of the main reasons what if someone poor was trying to get their dog back and it was a choice of food or the dog

I have lifetime licenses but I needed the microchip number to get them.

OP, you're clearly annoyed and that's understandable.

However, you are being held responsible for two failures on your part: Failure to get the dog microchipped, and failure to keep the animal under adequate control so it escaped.

The second failure has been compounded by the first. You had nine years to get the dog chipped, there is simply no excuse for that.

Approach the pound staff calmly and reasonably and you have some hope of a satisfactory resolution. If you swagger in trying to sound like a hardass they will make an example of you.

On another point, I would pay any sum they could name rather than leave either of mine in the pound for one second longer then necessary. Your dog ran away from you and you're not in a hurry to get it back. Maybe allow the pound to rehome it. Save yourself a few quid and give the poor dog a shot at a better life.

Although, (and I never ever though I'd ever say this) the dog might actually be better off where it is, or rehomed, if your attitude here is anything to go by.

What if the sum was 5k? For some people living day to day 350 is a lot of money

You could always start a Go Fund Me?

    Or start an online petition?

Your dog will be rehomed or put down.

    No microchip - no proof.

Sad that a dog has to suffer like this because of an irresponsible and very stubborn owner.

Hopefully it is rehomed to someone that cares more.

Dogs are expensive to keep. If you couldn't afford to chip him and you can't afford to get him back form the pound then you can't afford a dog.

Dog was walked three times a day, half hour before work, half hour at lunch and 5km in the evening in its peak. Now it's 2KM in the evening.

Im off the phone with the local station who gave them a call and said he's not paying.

I'm on the way now to collect the dog. I've took out 400 to give to them.

You know it's after 8pm, right?

Yep and just leaving, they had me on phone with person in charge as it's not the first time they have tried to extort money from people and has been reported before.

Apparently it's a well know issue they try and extort money from people. As soon as the Gaurds had me on conference they panicked

The reason the reclaiming fee is so high is because for years there were repeat offenders who let their dogs roam, knowing full well they'd be picked up by the warden, they'd collect them from the pound at some stage, repeat ad nauseum. Then you had the assholes who basically treated the pound like free boarding when they went away for the weekend, etc

The fee is designed to be a sharp shock so people are a bit more careful in future. Just pay it and be thankful your dog wasn't hit by a car or nicked.

Make sure to let us all know how you got on. I'm sure it'll go like this:

I arrived a the pound and said "You can take my dog but you can never take my... MONEY!!!" Then they all came at me at the same time. I took out the one with the nunchucks with a roundhouse kick to the sternum. The lad with the machete was flattened with a karate chop to his throat and the others got scared and ran away. I shifted the face off the sexy blonde behind the counter and said "Say, Sweety Tits, why don't you go and get my dog." She was gagging for it but she ran off to get him. I walked out with my dog a few minutes later. I didn't even look around when the building exploded.

This is all leading to you hoping that people will ask why you’re volunteering to pay €50 more than they were looking for, isn’t it? And then you say that it’s the principle, not the money that matters, and you won’t be held to ransom, etc.

You probably need to mention it again, because without people doing that, the whole idea of your thread doesn’t work, and you’ve wasted your evening on it.

So the pound has a dog that looks like your dog, and apparently has the same DNA as you. 200 people can attest to this unusual account. How many times did you shag it's mother?! Was it a gangbang with the other 200 or what?!

Your going to a dog pound after 6pm? That's lucky for you they are still open.

Our local is open about 4 hours a week!

Why hasn't the dog been chipped previously?

What type of dog is it?

Also the pound nor anyone else is denying it's your dog, so not sure why you are hell bent on proving it via strange DNA requests and a who's who of character references. The problem is that it's not legally held and not legally controlled as per your responsibilities as a dog owner. You've owned it 9 years so youve no excuse not to have it chipped.

Not that this is real anyway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 827 ✭✭✭HalfAndHalf

Should have got your dog chipped then shouldn’t ya! It’s a legal requirement, you would never have done it if you hadn’t got caught! Pay the money like a grown adult and stop you’re babbling about being held to ransom, because you’re not!
