Edit: Should have added the back story. Nick Willis was going for 20 years in a row to run sub 4 for the mile. He'd had a failed attempt where he ran just over 4 on just after midnight on New Years Eve a month ago.

Less turns and the sharpness of the turns in general offer advantage making them not eligible for records much like a net downhill road race.

The Track in question is 307m meaning that you have 30 bends vs 50 on a standard 200m indoor track. To put it into context though this is his universities home track and he broke the school record by 9 seconds so not to be discounted as a lightning fast time

I guess it’s not a distance that is raced often but surprised at that as a national record. Essential 3.35 1500m pace but over 2/3rds of the distance. Hard to assess a time out of context though. His recent mile indicates that he is in great form.
