Good run by Phil Healy over 400m in Karlsruhe last night. She finished second across two heats in a time of 51.97. She finished just 0.05 of a second behind the Polish winner.

She could have taken the win had she been a tiny bit more aggressive in the opening 200m. She is consistently running sub-52 now. If she can kick on from here, she could potentially do some damage at World Indoors in Belgrade.

7.27 in the heats earlier in the day. Looks to be in great form

Elsewhere Sam Healy with indoor PB of 7.60m in Long jump in US last night and only 2cm off his outdoor best.

Luke McCann breaks sub 4 for the first time in Millrose (invitational mile) with a 3.58.21 for second

Rhasidat Adeleke smashing the 200m Irish record over night with a 22.85 improving in Healys mark of 23.10 from 2 years ago

At the same meet, Davicia Patterson won the 600m last night and finished 3rd in the 400m tonight in 53.91

Wow.Just watching it, brilliant running..It was all Alexander with the commentary, Coscoran reeled him in..some finish by the 2 Irish lads..

Edit: Should have added the back story. Nick Willis was going for 20 years in a row to run sub 4 for the mile. He'd had a failed attempt where he ran just over 4 on just after midnight on New Years Eve a month ago.

Brian Fay moves to 11th on All time 5000m list with the fastest ever indoor time by an Irishman in 13.24.00 (oversized track so wont be an Irish record)

Less turns and the sharpness of the turns in general offer advantage making them not eligible for records much like a net downhill road race.

The Track in question is 307m meaning that you have 30 bends vs 50 on a standard 200m indoor track. To put it into context though this is his universities home track and he broke the school record by 9 seconds so not to be discounted as a lightning fast time

I guess it’s not a distance that is raced often but surprised at that as a national record. Essential 3.35 1500m pace but over 2/3rds of the distance. Hard to assess a time out of context though. His recent mile indicates that he is in great form.
