Applied for 3 passports last week, Wife renewal, 5yr olds renewal and 7 month old first time

Wife's came after 2 days, mildly concerned about the babies, we have a holiday booked for May 22, i know it's just over 4 months away but.....

Being received is one thing, but add another 2 months onto that by the time it goes to an examiner, and if there’s anything wrong with the application…

    Hey Logie,

We’re in the same situation as you! Would really love to hear if anyone has had any positive first time application stories recently - that it came ahead of estimated date…

I am going to try ring the passport office tomorrow to see if anything can be done have you tried this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4 pippypip

Yes, got through after a good few attempts (keep hanging up until you hear a recording of a man answering!) couldn’t do anything except take note of travel dates and couldn’t guarantee it would help. Said to ring back closer to travel times. 😞

It’s been said many times here recently, not possible to get a first time application fast tracked so I’d say your chances are slim.

Is there any chance off it coming before the arrival date it says on the tracker?

Seriously ridiculous service surely they can be of some help

No. Official advice is do not book travel without having your passports. Add to that the additional security requirements of a first passport, it takes as long as it takes. It's not ridiculous, the pandemic has hit every service in the past two years.

We're over 50 working days since we applied for my wee ones first passport. Due to fly out the 26th and we have 27th as the issue date. Webchat haven't been much help to us. We even tried to get a local TD to try and speed it up. I really didn't think it would take this long. With all the restrictions being lifted, I wonder would they let us drop up and get it on the day from HQ the way they used to do?

Don't think it works like that, there done in a location in Dublin, Balbriggan I think that isn't open to the public..

Anyone have experience recently with getting a surname changed due to marriage? I know it’s seen as a complex renewal due to having to be manually checked but the passport office gives a 15 day turnaround compared to 40 for a first time applicant, and I know that 40 days is a lot longer than that from experience last year.

Hey! I just had complex renewal done - applied online and sent documents on a Tuesday, had passport by the Friday. Also a name change due to marriage.

OK so my document were received in the passport office a week ago (last Tuesday morning). My tracking which I checked most days since last Tuesday changed today to say they received my documents and attached to my passport application number. Says my passport will be issued 1st April. 45 working days or thereabouts from tomorrow.

This is an online first time application for a child born in Ireland to parents born in Ireland.

    Straightforward adult renewal online.

    Completed application 17.30 last Friday.

Arrived by Express Post this morning.

    One working day, satisfied customer.

    HI all,

I see a few posts on twitter about passport office asking for copy of passport even though the long form birth cert was sent. Anyone any experience of getting this?

I've sent my long form birth cert with my daughters first time application and don't have time to mess it up!!! getting worried they will ask for this and delay my application another 3 months.

Thanks for the earlier help in this thread.

I have the online form for the first time child passport completed, and the photo was accepted. In struggling to find where to download the online forms, and which forms are needed. The website, and the confirmation email, are not exactly the easiest to follow. Anyone have a link?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 74 ✭✭beamer-89

There should be a link in your email as you read through it, down the end possible

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,601 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

The link in the email just brings me to a broken 'expired' page.

I'm not sure if this is related to the down time over the last few days or not.

Have to use it within a certain amount of days, so you need to contact them to reactivate

Good advice in here when calling, each time I got the woman it disconnected at the end. When you get the male voice means you are getting through!
