Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

People wearing flipflops (outdoors obviously) in January. 2 separate people wearing them today.

Do people have their own microclimate ?

Oops wrong thread..... sitting down with a cuppa.

The skin off for certain dishes, but only after being cooked in the skin to get that flavour and juice into the meat. If folks want to gasp at the skin being taken off, I'd be very surprised. The skin is needed for certain recipes but lots of people don't like it anyway.

In other news, finished work early, but back at it now due to eejits. The invoice has been updated.😁

I'd say we are zoned in on roast chicken where crispy skin is the perfect crust as it were..

Deskside after lobbing a bunch of coffee into me..

Tableside here, writing away. Blog posts, my journal, you name it, with my trusted writing buddy (coffee) by my side.

Always loved the skin on my dad's legendary roast chicken. What I'd give to have some of that right now...

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

I know. These days, common sense is so rare that it should be classed as a superpower...

Bedside at home, feeling aches and pains in my joints, slightly feverish, sore throat and a headache. 🤒🤕 Phoned in sick this morning and took a Covid antigen test which was, thankfully, negative.

On Lemsip and honey and getting plenty of rest and fluids. Oh how I wish I could make good homemade chicken soup for later - but hopefully I will feel better to go into work tomorrow as two of my lectures today will have to be rescheduled and my general workload is very busy this month with a lot of teaching hours.

@JupiterKid hugs, hope you sleep it off quickly.

@ Jupiter Kid , hope you feel better soon. I had a dose like that these last couple of weeks. Only I also had to dash to the loo on a couple of occasions. That's more for the etiquette thread 😠

After watching 'The Alpinist ' again. Fascinated with climbing fims ever since seeing the fim about the 2008 K2 disaster. How these guys do it is unbelievable. Its not quite up there with 'Free Solo' imo for scariness but wow !

Did you also watch that one about the climber trapped by their own arm? I am unable to watch heights on shows, if the camera divebombs over the edge of a roof or whatever i nearly fall off the couch.

Gotta be him, car drives all day, visit to starbucks and now time for beer, what more could a dog ask for 😂😂 (beer for me not him 😂)

Wife is fine, sore bones, cold and a headache, nothing more.

No dogs here, smiling or otherwise 😕

Just me chillin' in my living room. Feeling a bit down today for some reason...

You must feel a bit drained with all the writing etc

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 12,890 Mod ✭✭✭✭JupiterKid

Chilling in front of the telly. Made it into work today, but did a PCR test first thing this morning, as my doc advised me to do with my symptoms. Negative result texted to me a few hours ago. 👍👍😊

Still feeling a little flu-ey but a good bit better than yesterday. My tinnitus is really playing up which is very annoying.

Very busy workload between teaching, exam boards and research over the next six weeks. Aaargh!! 😬😭

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,402 ✭✭✭thomil

Well, at least some of it is my journal, which has kind of become my place to vent since my daily calls with my parents stopped for obvious reasons, so that part is actually quite cathartic. The big problem is that with me working from home, there really hasn't been a lot of stimulus to get my creative writing juices going. I'd love something to break the monotony...

Watched The Luminaries on netflix and I'm fecked if I know exactly what went on but an utterly enthralling watch.

Morning. I have been deskside since early and am enjoying a nice coffee at the moment. I hope to get out into the fresh air later. I need to clear the head a bit as there is so much happening at the moment.

Have a good day one and all.

This place seems like a ghost town today. Had another uneventful workday here. Probably going to spend the rest of the evening with a bit of gaming, Cities Skylines methinks...

I have found out what Duvet has been getting up too 🍷🍷

I wish, poor Duvet is on her last legs, I'm absolutely exhausted these days, I'm just going from work to home and very little else, I'm not sure if it's just me but I'm absolutely bate these days and beyond apathetic, sick of the dark mornings, it's too cold and I don't function in cold weather. The lotto Gods are having a laugh, not even winning a scratch card these days.

Could be worse I suppose, at least my 'handbrake ' didn't get stuck in a public carpark. 😂

Walking with ghosts, one man show with Gabriel Byrne. He tells the story of his life really, was very good.
