HEPA filters clean the existing air of particulates like pollen, dust and hopefully expelled droplets from coughts ... the CO2 monitor will still go of as nothing is removing the CO2 from the air.

If it was me I'd have trickle of fresh air from the widows, so only slightly open, run the hepa filter at a level where it is not to noisy, and switch off the CO2 meter it's now redundant.

What make of filter did you get and did you get replacement filters. How long did they last. Hope it's not some household toy made for a family living room.

The two windows you open, if you can have them as far away from each other as possible, ideally across from each other, as it provides the best level of ventilation.

I've lost count of how many times over the pandemic Ive gone into small spaces like offices, shops, and even doctor surgerys and all they have is a little top window open a crack.

Cross ventilation makes a huge difference.

You could try leaving the monitor on with this method and see if it stays green.

How many days of isolation is it now for an unvaccinated 11 year if deemed a close contact in school?

    7 or 14?

But the graphic you posted says non-household close contacts age 0-12 are not required to restrict movement unless symptomatic.

Anyone see this chancer? The facebook/twitter is called "alerting parents of covid outbreaks in schools". She's already changed it to "Help schools & parents throughout pandemic"

So this one is one of the admins of the facebook group and twitter page. 140k+ members on facebook and 12k+ followers on twitter.

Now she's saying her mental health is forcing her to step back, but.....she's making the other admins set up a new page on facebook!

One would have to ask, why would you need a new group? Just don't do anything or remove yourself as an admin? It's pretty obvious she either plans to sell the group or change it's name and topic to something else so she can profit off it. The group will have a pretty nice target market of mostly parents of kids of school going age.

These "admins" have been loving the attention and faked concern and riled up people all throughout. They should be ashamed.

UK to end mask wearing in secondary schools with immediate effect.

We need this to happen here as soon as possible too.

It will happen at the latest by end of March. Government is winding down everything covid related now. We might have some restrictions for the first winter but will see

Surprised that schools have to keep the mask requirement despite all other restrictions being lifted. It’s not right for younger children to have to wear masks in an educational setting.

‘Covid passes and hospitality curbs to go as Nphet clears the way for easing of almost all restrictions in coming days.’

agree its ridiculous. losing masks from primary school kids should be the first restriction lifted.

Disappointed to see the mask requirement stay in schools.

Well, even judging them by their own criteria it makes no sense to retain masks in secondary schools. They've been eligible for months.

Nphet has, however, advised that measures in schools should remain in place until such time as children who are eligible have had the opportunity to take a full course of the vaccine.

Sounds like they are pushing vaccines for younger kids seen as the uptake is quite low. But hopefully by midterm there will be no masks in schools. Imagine 1st and 2nd years know nothing else.

As a teacher I’d sooner lose the social distancing and keep the masks. Allows group work, no overflow rooms and a heck of a lot more freedom in classrooms

As we were for schools. Can't return to workplace as we were already there

I'm not a primary parent so won't offer an opinion on that, but with my kids (and almost all of their secondary classmates) double or triple vaccinated, what's the rationale for keeping masks in secondary school? Immunity will only wane from now on.

It seems bizarre and vague. You can pack in everywhere and prob with no masks but schools stay as is with separated desks, open windows etc?

Imagine some of the agitators in the unions had got their way and had schools delayed or staggered going back.

A stance that looks more and more ridiculous everyday. Glad the department and government held out.

You could almost think they are trying to push parents into getting the kids vaccinated couldn’t you ?

    Covid never really effected kids.

    Omicron doesn’t really effect anyone.

Close the windows, take off the masks, stop isolating and get on with it!

One of mine has 9/20 out in their class since the beginning of last week. It'll go around a bit, like any winter virus.

My eldest was a Junior Infant in 2019. November and December of 2019, the class were wiped out with virus after virus - teacher moved the school play date 3 times as so many were out and they were down to single digits of kids that were in several times. The teacher herself was very unwell the week before the holidays. Bear in mind this was a time before the concept of 10 days of isolation occurred, so those numbers of kids were out because they were physically too unwell to go to school. There might be 12 or 15 out in your child's class, but I doubt all 12 or 15 are so unwell that they can't attend school - some will be at home because siblings have it, and some will be at home because they are still in the 10 day period - and then some will be at home because they are sick with something else.

It is doing the rounds and as long as the kids aren't too sick, that is the important thing.

It seems to be calming down in our school after carnage before christmas and in the first two weeks of Jan. Only one out in my younger daughter's first class yesterday, and three out in my older one's fourth class. Less out sick than there would be in a normal January. That said, they are still uploading work to seesaw for the kids at home, so there must be more out in the other classes, but I'll know that it has all calmed down once they stop uploading the home-schoolers work.

Quick Q and sorry if it’s been answered previously.

what do we do in this situation when child tested positive last Sunday week and is now out side the period of isolation. We were unable to keep them isolated in their room alone. So at weekend my OH tested positive. My understanding is he’s now a close contact oh hers and should stay at home. Others tell me no he can go back to now as symptom free. I can’t see answer on Hse Covid advices - anyone know. ?
