Female jogger killed in Tullamore (MOD NOTE IN OP)

Tragic story. This is just so random and pointless. RIP 😥

I’m from the locality and while I didn’t know the woman personally I know both her father and her brother. A very well respected family and as names come out over the next few days I’m sure there will be plenty of people here from about mid 30’s up that will know of her father.

I can assure you that you are right in saying she was a valuable member of society. A very dedicated teacher by all accounts along with teaching Irish music to kids in her spare time and very involved in a lot of local activities.

It’s an absolute tragedy that something like this could happen in broad daylight and as said by a previous poster “May she rest in peace and that bsatard rot in the pit of hell.”

What does a jogger even have to mug these days?! Phones aren't even seen as having value any more. Absolutely shocking. Even scarier to think it's possible no motive was there at all

I certainly agree with that and I hope my post above hasn’t come across as anything that would suggest otherwise.

I can also say if there’s any family in the country that wouldn’t view themselves as being better than or above anyone else it’s her family.

There are no words to describe the tragedy of this.

RIP and heartfelt empathy for her, the family, friends and students.

RIP to the young lady, a life snuffed out and a future unlived. May her family and friends find her memory some solace in the awfulness of their grief.

The Irish Independent has named the murder victim as Ashling Murphy aged 22 who was out jogging on a walkway which was in memory missing woman Fiona Pender along the Grand Canal in Tullamore.

My thoughts are with her family and friends at this time.

This is absolutely shocking, hard to comprehend. May she RIP. Society cannot accept this. Our judiciary cannot accept this.

A shocking, sickening act. A young lady just out for a run. Horrendous. Her poor family, I can’t even imagine their grief.

I wonder was this man out to kill or was this an opportunistic crime. Either one is horrifying, but to think he was there to kill is sickening.

Cannot imagine the grief of the woman’s family. Out to exercise in broad daylight, and life taken. Gone! Her poor family.

I actually feel sick after reading this news this morning I mean what was the point, devastated and worried for my daughters and female friends who all jog.
