I apologised on the thread at the time straight away cause you PMed 836Bet and he told me.... and you thanked my apology post at the time too!, Wibbs since deleted that cause it was a mess but I am sure he can verify.

And you are Trolling the feck out of me constantly so it was not much of a reach in the first place (everyone sees it, its not hidden, clever or transparent) and trying to put yourself in position to play the victim as soon as I respond in the way you are predicting. You are well able to dish it out Cyclitringtourist so you need to learn to take it the odd time too. You are coming across as a very petty person, and I have better things to do than deal with your spiteful digs.

I am adding you to my ignore list now. That means your replies will not appear on boards for me, so unless its quoted by somebody else I will not see it. I suggest you do the same for me and that might make you happier too. You and I are very different people and I dont think our interactions are fruitful or interesting for the other forum members, they certainly are not for me. Which is a shame as we share a common interest in watches.

    Adios.

PS: Apologies Wibbs, I am actually out now.

He is a pathetic troll in fairness, he does it It to anyone that gives him the slightest inkling of attention, I’ve started to pity him over the last few weeks.

He should of been moderated though.

    Ladies, get a room

That's an impressive looking piece of kit. Any more photos? My mate bought a camper in the UK at the start of lockdown, first time he ever bought a vehicle that went up in value. Crazy demand for them now

No what you did was admit that I probably wasn't lying so it was unlikely to be me. Then later you gave a general 'sorry to anyone who I mentioned' type apology when it was me you had continually identified as the person who was the sockpuppet.

It's not a major issue but needed to be said particularly when you object to an inoffensive 'name drop'.

This is my fourth campervan (third import), and I'm not sure there is another campervan like mine in the country at the moment. I brought it in from Germany just before Christmas. It was 6 months and 1 day old when I bought it, for tax reasons. Given my previous one was a 2002 model (VW California Event), that I sold to pay the deposit on the house I currently sit in, this is a fair step up. So, this one is a VW California Ocean Edition ('Edition' = a few more bells and whistles, including fancy alloys). I brought it for the VRT inspection the other night, and ended up having to take the photos of it for the inspector who couldn't manage the camera in the lashing rain. As these are not a common import, it takes them a week or two to work out what I owe them, hence I'm still on the German import plates. 2 litre DSG auto, 150bhp. Taxed and insured for under €500 a year. There is something like a 12 month waiting list for them at the moment if you bought one brand new from VW.

Ok thats not anything like what I thought a camper van was or the ones from the holidays of my youth. Proper job that....I just went off down the campervan rabbit hole when you posted that and these modern ones are seriously cool. I had heard that during Covid the demand for these and prices went sky high.

The preceramic sub and the van together is a very cool look.

Looks savage .An expensive item if you’re not using it a lot.A neighbour of mine bought one a few months ago and I dont think it’s left his drive yet.

I’m highly unlikely to ever end up sleeping in a camper van (the good lady likes her hotels too much) but if I did, it would be that one. That looks absolutely savage.

What’s it like on the road? Do they feel heavy? Much poke?

And hopefully you can put a case together and enjoy an appeal on whatever VRT they hit you with.

It's heavy as you'd expect but has enough power for general driving around the country and more than enough for motorway driving. Steering is really light.I think the dash and steering wheel are out of the e-Golf.

I've already been sussing out an appeal. I'd say they'll go to town on me.

@fulladapipes Really love that Camper. Prior to Covid taking hold I'd been seriously considering buying one but, the Mrs is too fond of hotels! Its something I really am considering whenever the lady wife does join me in retirement though. The thoughts of cruising Europe and enjoying the campsites and Aires there while being on a proper long break from Ireland really appeal to me.

On to the other hobbies and obsessions...

As I posted a few months ago I started playing some flight sims again. In particular IL2:1946 with a slew of mods added, along with trying out war thunder and DCS. They ran "ok" on my old laptop but I bought new laptop for college 😉 despite applying for an LOA to allow me to get on top of the neuralgia issues....

So I definitely, 100%, really got the new laptop with an Nvidia 3050RTX card, solely for College work that will resume in @ 12months!😁 Anyway, that work laptop does a really excellent job of allowing all those games to run in VR, and sweet jesus do they all look brilliant in VR!😲

You’re two pics of the sub on and off the bracelet really show how much a better a sub is on the bracelet. To me a submariner isn’t complete without the oyster bracelet

Can anyone else imagine Ct and Fitz in a camper van for a week?😲

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Absolutely savage motor Fitz, i spotted you when i was out running the other morning, look forward to popping over for a proper look!

I saw the e-tron mentioned a few pages back, i got one a year and a half ago, have to say we have been very happy with it, terrible efficiency, but charges very quickly, performs the family duties, plenty quick when you need it and most of our trips are short anyway.

Im also a technology nerd, i have a full rack of ubiquiti gear to manage the ardous task of networking our house 😁

This is the e-tron, in my yoof i was a BMW enthusiast, had a few e46m3s, z4 coupe and a few others, so my first interactions with fitz were on the motors boards!

The digital dial is handy for customising things up the way you like. Gps between the 2 dials is a great

Yeah say you being all healthy and running....making me feel bad 😄 I remember your cars on the Motors forum, I was very envious. Love the Etron, you must show me all the networking, in another life I worked for a bit doing that and still get pleasure out of troubleshooting that stuff. Never tried ubiquity seem to be the cream of the crop for "prosumer" gear.

@funkyouup Not far behind you there.

    08 Civic 1.4i - 213,000 km

    12 5008 1.6HDI - 239,000 km.

Both still going strong. Fully expect to exceed 300,000 on the Peugeot.

Peoples perception of what “high mileage” has changed a lot in recent years. Accelerated by the switch to KM. Diesel engines only getting going at 150-200km.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,012 ✭✭✭njburke

Digital dash, so can't be too old. 70K km on my current 2016 Octavia Estate. I had a 2L C5 tourer with the hydro pneumatic suspension, I should have stuck with it a few more years. Tried a pair of Superb estates in between. There's not much risk or adventure in motoring with a 6 or 7 year old car these days, just routine servicing I have found, maybe a seal or bushing every now and then. YMMV, of course.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 832 ✭✭✭funkyouup

It's an 09 Civic Diesel 2.2 but the dash isn't digital, just the screen in the middle. Looking at it on the computer screen now it actually does look fully digital.

Great car as far as I'm concerned, plenty of poke, cheap tax and not too thirsty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,012 ✭✭✭njburke

Sorry, I meant dot matrix MFD, rather than the fully digital display you get nowadays. As an aside, even with these modern displays Car manufacturers don't want to share the cars data with a curious driver. I use Torque and Vag dpf apps to dig into the cars data. I'll usually set the MFD to show oil temperature, mainly so I can see how I'm loading the engine. All those WW2 aircraft engines were managed by pilot and crew and EGT was closely monitored.

    All mod cons.

Less to go wrong. 😁 Originally it didn't come with the clock, but ebay sorted that. No radio, ABS, airbags, rear parcel shelf, rear wiper, third brake light, or even floor mats either. Full "racebase" spec. Which of course the first owner had to pay extra for... Car companies know how to milk petrolhead gobshítes. 😁 Then again they were a loss leader for Honda. They could only build 20 engines a day because things like torquing down bearings were done by hand, pistons, rods and valves weighed and sorted by hand. Mine got a Spoonsport engine transplant at some stage, so even more blueprinted and balanced, so it revs to 9500 RPM. Which even now on the very rare occasions I do it(your honour), still sounds completely bloody insane.

It's coming up on 180K now. Other than oil and filter changes and a timing belt every four years, it's needed a dizzy cap, coil and rotor, brake disks, a front wheel bearing, a cat replaced and just got its first clutch in recently. Then again, 90's Jap car so "my 90's Toyota Corolla didn't start this morning" said nobody, ever. Oh and bushes. It has more bushes than the botanic gardens. Doesn't use a drop of oil and these are normally like two strokes(Oil changes every 4k and never revving it until it reaches full temp is the trick there and being the second owner so it never got thrashed when values bottomed out). It's even gone up in value. 😮 It's handy on juice too. Big boot, though the rear strut brace eats into it and back seats are for kids or people who owe you money. The front seats are sublime, though you have to be under 1.9 Mickjaggers to really appreciate them. I've had the pleasure of driving a lot of cars, including a fair number of exotics and the gearshift in this glorified Civic is one of the finest I've ever experienced. Real oiled rifle bolt stuff. The main expense has been insurance. Try 2k for just third party at one stage. Though it's come down a lot in recent years. I held onto it pretty much by mistake, but now it's like a family member. My "pet car" as my mechanic calls it. ☺️

Didn't even know it was possible to change the display like that in vag cars, i gotta see if its possible with hondas.

Who doesn't love a Honda with a Red H on the steering wheel😁

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,869 ✭✭✭scwazrh

Jesus wibbs , A momo steering wheel on a Honda ! I’m having serious flashbacks of the late 90s early 00s . Cruising around in a 2.2 Prelude with an ironing board for a spoiler . Followed by my mate in a gt starlet and another lad in his mams polo who never shut up about the vtec civic he was going to buy !

Well they originally came with Momo wheels, though that one is from an NSX-R. I have the original one in the attic. Prices have gone nuts in the last couple of years because so many of a certain age want the late 90's back and have the cash to get there. Where once an OEM wheel would be 60 quid in a scrapper, now, add a zero. As usual the US market is the nuttiest with 150k Toyota Supras and the like. Though also as usual the US market is frenzied and bubble like and classic car dealer speak makes the Rolex trend look perfectly sensible. 😁 Again the interwebs fuels it with sites like Bring a Trailer. Those sort of cars have pretty much vanished from Irish roads. Increases in VRT and insurance killed the once massive Jap import market, where a Saturday night in any large town in Ireland looked like a casting call for a Fast and Furious flic. 😁 PCP, the rise of drifting and a swing to German RWD iron nailed the coffin shut. Understandably too. I mean if you were 25 and came from an imported basic spec 1.4 Civic into a 3 series Beemer, that had more power, looked better and was better appointed and cheaper to insure the choice would be clear.

That said I do see first and second gen Mazda Mx-5's out on the roads on the regular.
