Yeah, go vegan, just run, generally malnourish himself. That’ll be great for performance

Why would he have to go Vegan or malnourish himself? He can go on a calorie deficit and lose the weight gradually. Volkanovski used to be massive and a rugby player. Now he is Featherweight champ.

he hasn’t been near that weight for years. A calorie deficit for him to get that weight naturally would take years, if he just dropped it as fast as, he’d be toast.

He even looks gaunt at 155 now. Not a hope he makes 145 ever again.

He made 155 earlier this year. That's only 10 pounds more. Even if he needed to lose a stone. It doesn't take years to lose a stone.

The 145 cut looked rough when he was younger and far leaner.

No chance we'll see McGregor at 145 again. It looks like Poirier v Diaz will get made and we may never see the trilogy with Diaz inside the UFC. Would like to see McGregor v Ferguson at a catch-weight as his first fight back to see where he is at.

Have you seen a picture of him lately? Losing weight gets harder as you get older, never mind weight cuts.

No hope he makes 145, or even tries it. It’s 155 or 170.

He looks puffy and blown up. Goodbye to his speed.

And I doubt he will have any strength advantage in that division too. His frame is just too small for 155. I could even see volks coming up from 145 and manhandling him.

He's one of those fighters in that gap of being almost too big for featherweight & a bit too small at lightweight. Was one of the main reasons why he was so successful at featherweight, he had a height, reach & overall physical advantage over most of them. Sure Aldo is fighting at bantamweight now for gods sake. Mad to think they both fought each other when you look at the respective divisions they are competing in now. Aldo doesnt even look too big for bantamweight, looks like he's suited to it. It would be the equivalent of Ngannou fighting Adesanya, a massacre or murder😂

Not a hope in hell Conor would even attempt to make 145 lbs again.

His ego wouldn't allow it, he likes to pretend he's the big man flexing his muscles and posing etc

He would have zero motivation to either. Even if he wasn't sleeping in silk sheets and filthy rich, he'd struggle too much at this stage in life.

Conor went after money over his MMA record ,if he'd have stayed at FW we'd probably be talking about an all time MMA great ,

Many other (Khabib ) would have stayed in there division to remain undefeated ,Conor done everything for the money ,he literally tried things other before him where afraid to , GSP had the Anderson fight there for years & wouldn't chance his legacy , Conor dreamed big & went for it ,

The boxing fight basically ended his MMA days at the very top but it made him & his family for life,

Look you can't knock him for it the chap has made million its prize fighting after all,

Cutting 10lbs is nothing, he can probably keep current work out regime as is and lift lighter weight for a lot more reps, and he'd get close to 145. Caloric deficit for the remainder.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,953 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

But he wouldn't be just cutting 10lbs , He'd be cutting an extra 10lbs on what he is cutting to make 155lbs to begin with ,

Now he is clearly heavier than he was before his last 2 cuts to 155lbs, There no chance in hell he ever makes 145lbs again & is anyway competitive , That ship is sailed,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,345 ✭✭✭Esse85

He'll be doing well to win against at top 8 opponent at 155 now.

Not a hope in hell he would even try 145, zero percent chance.

This guy isn't hungry or motivated to compete at 145 again, as a result it'll never happen.

He's not going to the gym grinding it out 2-3 times a day, 5-6 days a week, for months on end on a calorie deficit. The idea of that is nuts, no one in his position would do it. He won, he beat the game. He's a big show fighter now, an entertainer, get a fight, hype it up and just go for it from the bell like he always has and go out getting stopped or stopping his opponent.

He'll continue to keep himself in great shape (but not really fight shape), working out, jump in the ring/cage and move around while the hangers on cheer on from the sidelines because why wouldn't you, you're rich and spend your time living a life of luxury, might as well look great in your briefs too. Grinding to be the best fighter, watching what you eat all day, every day, when you've earned hundreds of millions and have won the belts already, why?

old pic that popped up on my phone, woodley was the perfect opportunity to take the 170 belt years ago

McGregor might actually have a chance against Cejudo. Get back in the W column.

Talking about not going back to 155 and fighting Usman. Not sure he'll have much luck against top WW.

    Pub talk indeed.

Nate v Dustin on paper seems like an easy and profitable fight to make but no sign so it seems that someone has told Nate to keep his diary free so he v Conor seems like the obvious return fight.

Maybe if he was to beat Nate then he fights Usman assuming he beats Edwards as I reckon Usman wants one major pay day before Khamzat catches up with him.

Late summer he mentioned as a timeframe.

When is Usman due back after the hand operation?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,270 ✭✭✭✭Rjd2

Obviously not set in stone, but I think Dana said July and is scheduled to fight Leon who really deserves this title shot.

    LoL Usman. He'd be murdered

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,940 ✭✭✭Tazzimus

    Usman...

That's one way to go I suppose.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,953 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

Conor's done & has been for a long while, the extra weight means he has zero chance of wining a meaningful fight again,

iv said it ages ago he was an undersized man for light weight adding muscle to try his hand at WW will end in tears,

Remember Conor used to say the LW's look stuck in the mud, That's him now ,

1 win in 5 1/2 years. His prime years. He'll be nearly 35 before he fights again.
