I'm now on day 11 of negative tests and as I'm boostered can end isolation tomorrow.

There have been a few posts here where household close contacts didn't test positive, then others where entire households did.

I'm actually wondering if I had it unknown recently. Hard to believe not tbh

Haha , asked the pharmacist for one too but they had none available ! :)

Hope you stay well . We'll be back driging them all mad on the Covid thread soon, eh ?

Not sure what word to put in there, 😁 edited.. brain started to work again !

Anyone know what day it is ? What year is it or indeed who am I !!

I have lost track of days and who tested positive when

I’m also very intrigued by the antigen results over the 10 days etc. Wondering what day I could test negative on one, out of curiosity rather than an excuse to end isolation.

A family member had a few very slight symptoms last Wednesday night, positive antigen on Thursday last, positive pcr with Swab taken on Christmas day.... Today they had a negative antigen (they've been doing them every two days)

Just for clarification, assuming today's PCR comes back positive tomorrow, from what date am I counting the days for isolation purposes? I developed symptoms yesterday and had the positive antigen test last night.

Thanks for that. The HSE website was confusing me a little....

It's ten days from the test if you are asymptomatic

The other half has covid.she felt symptoms 26th , neg then but positive the next day. I have a headache, blocked nose feeling of a head cold but keep testing neg on antigen, 6 so far. have a PCR booked for tomorrow. I have had the above symptoms for about 5 or 6 days and cant figure out why I am getting negatives.

i got it on 16th dec

    partner positive on 20th

son negative on 20th and 23rd but positive on 27th

u will need to do a PCR test or else isolate for 10 days from your partners last day of isolation (according to the HSE guidelines). reason being is you may not have it for the first days of her sickness but if you pick it up towards the end then youll be infectious for longer. youd be best off booking PCR test asap and hope u are positive so ur 10 day clock can start sooner rather than later - in my case i should isolate from 16th dec (my first symptom) until 10 days from 27th dec (my sons positive date) PLUS 5 days extra as a close contact and someone whose recovered in the past 3 months - nightmare.

Try swabbing your throat as well as nose. Sometimes the virus prefers the throat.

You got it on the 16 th ? So positive on the 16 th ? Then you isolate for 10 days from your first symptoms not from anyone elses positive date ?

Sure if you had 10 in a house you could be isolating for months if you did that ?

Hope all of you with covid feel better soon. My family is fairly unaffected so far. I’ve been meeting lots of people outdoors over Christmas as well as having a family bubble of ten of us across three houses. And I met the in laws indoors on Christmas Eve. It’s only a matter of time isn’t it?

    symptomatic on 16th

    positive pcr on 20th

i isolated until 26th, since my symptoms began on the 16th

since then my partner tested positive PCR (also on the 20th and her symptoms started that day, so she isolating until 30th)

my 2 year old son took three PCR tests, negative on 20th, negative on 23rd and eventually positive on the 27th, so now he must isolate until 6th Jan which is ten days from the 27th

i am no longer isolating since i recovered and my ten days was finished on the 26th, but the fact that my son must now isolate until the 6th means we cannot go anywhere so we may as well still be isolating (effectively, although it is nice to be able to go to the shops on my own now or go for a run etc)

anyway, the point i was trying to make is that it is "best" for everyone in a household to test positive at the same time. the previous poster will need to isolate with his partner and then do a PCR once their partner has finished 'having covid' so that they can be sure they didnt pick it up on the last few days of their isolation.

Ok now I get you sorry . But as you say at least you can get to a shop or chemist or a walk by the 26 th

all good, my post wasnt very clear to begin with.

i think i should technically still isolate though, because i am classified as a close contact that recovered within the past 3 months, and that means i need to isolate for 5 days from the date i was in contact with the person with covid. this is not realistic though, we all caught covid at around the same time (it was me that caught it first) so i am sure i am immune to the variant that my son now has and my partner had. the guidelines are all quite confusing, its a total pain anyway. we are still using antigens regularly to be safe.

It can be rollercoaster for some.... Not trying to scare you but the virus enters through sinus infection and travel down....etc...

But it could be well on its way out...at this stage nobody could tell you....

    Ps: drink tons of fluids

Would you not go for a walk in the countryside or somewhere fairly remote? No harm in it. You are walking through an empty house too.

Child tested positive last Monday week partner subsequently tested positive christmas day I had a pcr test last Wednesday and again yesterday both negative and antigens every two days so doesn't look like I'm going to pick it up at all.

Has anyone who tested or knows someone who was positive had diarrhea and an upset stomach or cramps as a symptom?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,168 ✭✭✭TonyMaloney

Yeah, my adult daughter did just prior to Christmas. Very unpleasant for about two days, but then the stomach stuff passed

Yikes. Were they the only symptoms or also hit by more typical ones?

lots of people I know are now testing positive. Even the most careful people. It’s in the air everywhere and unless you live like a hermit monk/nun you will get it.

My other half had stomach cramps and nausea for about a day and then it passed.

He's just hoovered down a big roast chicken dinner and is now eating cake

As expected my PCR came back positive. Was kinda hoping against hope that last night's antigen was false. Impressed with the speed of the results from rocdoc. Isolating now till Friday week I guess. All I have at the moment is a dry cough, the phlegm seems to have disappeared......

Do you mind me asking was it a public or private test with Rocdoc? Am wondering can people pay for a private test if symptomatic.
