HKC Wireless House Alarm

Hi all,

Hope you can help. I have a HKC wireless alarm with a number of contact points around the house. When the alarm goes off, I get a text to my phone informing me of same and advising which contact point is the source. I recently added a small extension to the front of our house and moved our front door out approx five feet. There is a wireless contact point on the door which was working fine prior to moving the door.

Now if I open the door when the house is fully armed the alarm goes off but I don't get a text to my phone. When I log into the HKC secure comm app on my phone the front door input is not showing any fault and is online.

Just wondering has anyone come across this before? I tested the windows in the house and I get a text to my phone if I open one of the windows while the alarm is fully armed.

Any help is appreciated.

I would not say there is any issue with the sensor if you only moved it a couple of feet.

Is this zone set up as an entry point?

I have a HKC Quantum 70 panel, and a HKC Wireless External Bellbox (RF-SABB v3.1)

1- Since the 6 CR123 batteries won't last long in the box, can I hardwire the Quantum 70 to the the SAAB?

2-Or, do I just run a separate 12VDC supply to the SABB?

3- Failing all of that, I have a Phonewatch Bellbox (PCB 2015R5B). Will the Quantum 70 work ok with it? If so, does anybody have a wiring diagram that shows the connections between the Quantum 70 and the Phonewatch bellbox

Yes, you can run a cable from the panel to the bell. Do not connect battery packs and use a RF external bell battery.

If you add the extender battery pack you can get up to 3 years out of the battery packs. Using just the one with LEDs on will let it work for up to 7/8 months.

You can also use a power supply with its own back up battery to supply the bell with 12V.

I don't recognize the code you have used, if its only has 4 terminals then no. If it has 6 then a global sabb will work.

Thanks Altor - if I use say, a separate power (12VDC) supply, and connect it into the RF SABB, will the SABB siren sound if the Quantum 70 panel is axed by the intruder?

Failing that, do you recommend any specific RF external bell battery that I can use?

I've attached a few pics of the Q70, RF-SABB, and Phonewatch boxes.

The bell will work if you use its battery packs or a power supply with back up battery.

This is the second battery pack to be fitted with the other pack, its connects using a lead on both packs.

That is a global sabb so can be used if wired direct to the panel from bell on 6 core alarm cable.

So somebody somewhere said that the PW boards are all 6VDC ..... I don't have to worry about that?

The bell you have is a global bell, 12v.

The 6V SABB is used on the Simon system.

Altor - the Phonewatch Box works fine with the Q70 panel, and really screams when it's triggered. However, I see that the old backup battery (that needs to be replaced) in the box is 6V, 290mAh, Ni-MH (see attached pic). Does part of the 12V supply from the Q70 panel go to trickle-charge the battery, or what's going on?

Just measured the voltage across the Bell Box battery terminals (fed from the Q70 panel), and it's 8.4VDC

Yes, this is to charge the battery.

You can pick up a new one in wholesalers if old battery is dead

I've looked hi-up and lo-down for a replacement Phonewatch Bellbox battery (Yuasa Ni-MH 6.0V 290mAh) from a list of Wholesalers that I have:

(Reliable Security; Northwood Technology; Richmond Electrical Wholesale; Wesco Electrical; RWL; Mercury Security; Fortis; NEW; AVE; National Automation; Radionics; etc, etc) and no joy!

I rang Phonewatch, but that was a complete waste of time. Does anybody happen to know where I might pick one up?
