I’m elated here lads, I love this sport so much.

Yes they are, letting only some of the lapped cars through is not within the rules.

    Why didn't Mercedes pit Lewis?

Yes Hamilton had bad luck, but he had good luck on the first lap and his team made a major mistake today.

Not the first time they've done that, especially on tyres.

It's very fitting that they were level on points into the last race of the season and it all came down to a last lap shoot out!

Max could have stayed out, the tyre differential would not have been there.

I think the chance to let them race was right. Imagine Lewis had pitted and did the restart on fresh tyres there wouldn't have been so much controversy. Lewis stated he wanted to pit multiple times.

Odd with lapped cars thing. Lucky for Verstappen

Notable that nobody can justify what happened with anything other than "karma" or "swings and roundabouts".

I predicted at the first safety car that Max would win, it was really detrimental to Mercedes.

But not win like that, with the race director manipulating rules to create a scenario that favoured one driver massively.

Verstappen won the race because of a better strategy. He had nothing to lose with the extra stops and sometimes luck goes your way.

But Masi has been a disgrace all season long. He bends to whoever complains the most. I'm pretty sure they didn't even apply the correct rules at then end only letting 4 cars unlap themselves at the last second.

    Netflix couldn't make that up.

I suppose reflecting on it, it was consistently inconsistent stewarding all season so it was just going to be a case of who was in the right place at the right time to cash in at the crucial moment.

They really need to have a look at it for next season, exciting as it was, the sport's credibility will be lost in all the drama

Masi is such obnoxious individual in how he communicates. F1 really needs to get rid of him.

I also can’t stand the invasive camerawork. Standing in front of a teary Jos Verstappen, interfering with his experience of his son’s win, and zooming in super close on his face make me want to turn off the TV.

Well as was pointed out on commentary that Mercedes’ asked Lewis about tyres and then didn’t bring him in.

    Absolutely insane. INSANE!!

I am so, so happy for Max. It’s so great to see the best driver winning. I said he’d need to be lucky and good!!

Honda too deserve a huge amount of congratulations for leaving it all on the track before leaving the sport.

Conversely, but of retrospection needed for Mercedes. Wolff was cannot dictate terms of the race. He was disgraceful today.

Hamilton will be back and fully motivated next year, the battle with Max will be amazing!

    What a season!!

Yet they will still manage to change the story 😊

merc complaing abotu breaking rules is pritty ironic considering all the rules they broke last week

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,985 ✭✭✭Essien

I'm very much on team Verstappen but that just seems like a farce. That being said, it's nice to see a farce go in his favour for once.

Hamilton was just remarkably unlucky. I don't think Merc got it wrong, RB were always just going to do the opposite, and there were risks either way.

What a finish. Well done Max.

Race directors have been manipulating rules all season to favour one driver and we were told it was ok, but it’s a problem today, funny that.

Plot Twist: Michael Masi secretly works for Netflix

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,729 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

Sainz 3rd, Yuki 4th and Gasly 5th. Excellent result for them!

Verstappen was complaining while the situation was happening, he never in his wildest dreams expected to restart side by side with Hamilton, but that's what they did.

    Hamilton very gracious in fairness

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,066 ✭✭✭✭bucketybuck

Come on, its more than odd. Let them all through or let none of them through.

Don't only let the ones through that suit you and then hit the restart button.

How can people handwave that away so easily? Its supposed to be the race director for gods sake.

Lewis deserved the win today but that’s the way it can go with safety cars.

Both had great seasons. You would have to be very biased to think one was the clear winner. Glad to have a new winner in a two horse race.

Really hoping there’s a tightening of the pack next year.
