What vaccines can be got & where?

Alright, I've looked up information here on boards.ie before but haven't actually created an account until now.

I have decided to go ahead & get the Covid vaccine (bit late to the party - yeh, I know).

What I'd like to know is which vaccines are available (e.g. Moderna, Pfizer/BioNTech, J&J, etc.) & where would I go to get them in each case (e.g. Pharmacy, walk-in centre).

Appreciate your input, cheers...

You should be able to get in pharmacies alright. Boots do them, Phelans,check your local ones

You can still register online and they’ll send you out to a vaccination centre. Pharmacies also do it.

vaccine Choice I’d say is probably only Pfizer as you’re starting new. There’s not much moderna going around and they’ll struggle to get the second dose for you. Not saying it won’t happen, but I’d say you’re 99% likely to get Pfizer.

One thing I'm curious about is why, if pharmacies are doing them, are there reports of five hour queues at vaccination centres?

That was for walk in booster doses afaik . You should be able to book in a pharmacy. You would be priority as first dose

Thanks folks for all the info.

I called into my local(-ish) pharmacy yesterday & they should be able to fit me in sometime next week. I'll get a days notice before the appointment time.

Update - got a call from the pharmacy earlier today. They can fit me on on Saturday lunchtime. Nice one!

Never thought I'd say this but I'm actually really looking forward to it!

Right, I had my first dose about 6 hours ago.

Side-effects so far have been minimal to non-existent.

About 20 minutes after my limbs felt a bit heavy & this lasted about the same amount of time. Not sure if that was all in my head or what but it's gone now.

Shortly after that I had a marginal touch of a cluster headache. I do get these now & again so maybe that was pure coincidence.

Other than that all good!
