It's nothing to do with that. Schools have been closed for red weather warnings before this pandemic and will be closed again after it.

The last time they were closed for a storm it was also pretty much a non-event. For the sake of one day of school, I don't know why people are so obsessed with this. Yes, it's overly cautious, but it's also one day of school.

Hard to imagine countries with low vaccine take-up are low on Pfizer for their boosters.

Headmaster wasn't paying attention then. It was stated clearly last night that the reason Orange areas were advised to close was because there was a strong possibility of an upgrade to red overnight. So it was advisable just to make the call yesterday evening. There were loads of jokes flying about last night about "too much ventilation", but the open windows weren't the reason schools were advised to close.

So for various reasons there are staff there to deliver vaccines and there are people who want them, are eligible and are waiting to be called. Can they not have a waiting list for a given day in a given centre? Register and see if there is capacity?

I never suggested that a patient should be entitled to dictate their prescription...?

The issue here is that patients will doubtless present for vaccination without advance notice that they must 'take it or leave it' (which they are free to do). Some may refuse, leading to wastes resources.

Another issue with this is that a collaborative approach (concordance) is not possible.

Patient safety might not be adequately considered in circumstances where utilitarianism takes precedence due to having only one product available. There are other ethical issues at play due to the lack of data available around mixing vaccines from different providers and what the impact (positive or negative or nil) might be to individual patients (patient-centred approach)

It is far from ideal. Can we expect perfection in the current circumstances? Probably not.

Should we accept it? That's for individuals to decide with their healthcare providers.

I can't imagine why people wouldn't be showing up for their booster, I mean the vaccine has been such a game-changer, the end of restrictions / lockdowns etc, why wouldn't you want one.

My mum got a text with her appointment for her booster but she only can ring and answer calls. Wasn't until I called to her and looked at her phone and seen the message. It was two days after her appointment when I seen it. I have showed her loads of times how to get up text messages etc but it's hopeless 🙈. Might more like her that doesn't know how to get a text up for their booster.

You are right. They seem rigid in the approach and should aim to get as many vaccines in as possible. Even to have vaccines over to x age group 3/4 days in advance but open to the next group the day before for open slots.

The article I quoted before is the NOCA Covid paper re ICU since the pandemic.

There are many articles on that site which go into a lot of detail some of it unwieldy if not working in the area.

It is certainly not ignorant to look for information, but is to make claims when you don't know the facts.And then refuse to accept or read any information given in good faith by a nurse specialising in the area you are spouting about.

I have not made the claim you attribute to me about patients in ICU with Covid and will not say anything more as that will probably be twisted out of recognition also .( I knew you were being totally disingenuous when I read that )

That statement of yours is totally incorrect and I think you know it was not what I said .

What I said was that anybody in ICU with Covid was very sick with it , no matter how they got it .

The data you are seeking ( why, I don't know, unless you are writing up a paper on it?) will become available once proper procedures and consent have been processed .

This has been explained before ,many times, but no answer is good enough for some here ...its all a big cover up , isn't it?

I don't think most people really want all the information they go on about. It is just to moan and whinge about their 'rights' being infringed upon if they are not provided with every detail.

In reality most people have NO RIGHT or ENTITLEMENT at all to that information, as it is belonging to the patients themselves or the individual institutions and, those same institutions have to account to the patients and their families for any release of information.

This has been explained countless times before but some here just don't get it.

Pretty much every expert has said that HEPA filters are a second choice to ventilation.
