This is going to hearld big change to the Dairy an beef sectors in Ireland. This passed at group stage in the EU and the proposals are shocking

Is it part of the hidden agenda to drive numbers in the national herd? Big changes for dairy farmers, not being able to move calves under 5 weeks and then only able to move a 2hr journey. This will back numbers up and no doubt calf price will drop through the floor. Quality will only move and thus putting greater pressure to produce a quality beef calf. Biggest hit will be the FR bull and later calves especially AA and HE.

The other pinch in it is the ban on moving cows/heifers 3 months before calving. This will affect incalf sales and also contract rearers

On the beef side, more numbers of cattle in the country, will drive the beef price down, but following a teagasc survey that only 40% of farmers keep rearing calving after 5 years. Who will rear these now.
