Running buggy

Hi all, I have a soon to be 8 month old baby and am keen to get back running. I am a slow plodder but managed the Dublin marathon in 2017. I’m wondering about a running buggy so I can bring baby out for a plod around the park. The park has tarmac paths as well as some wooded areas which are in good condition.

I am on the lookout for a good running buggy and am looking second hand as I have a very small budget. I also don’t want to spend a lot as I’m not a serious runner (even though I’d love to do the marathon again some day).

I have my eye on an out n about nipper second hand. It’s not the sport version. Would this be suitable as a starter option?

On my phone, but it depends which out and about it is.

The main thing is that you can lock the front wheel, which is the out and about 360.

The out and about sport is an amazing running buggy fwiw

Do these collapse to a small size? Very keen on getting a running buggy and have used a standard out and about so appreciate they are solid buggys, but even when collapsed they take up a bit of space - something which is at a premium in my current living quarters!

That depends. If you take the wheels off, the buggy folds pretty much flat.

With wheels on, it's all awkward and doesn't fold as well.

At the moment, I keep it hanging from a hook on the wall under the stairs with the wheels kinda just stacked on the floor below. So pretty neat, but needs a little setup time at start and end of use.

From what I remember the out and about nipper has an adjustable wheel that can swivel or be set fixed and is the version below the out and about nipper sport. It also has smaller wheels then the nipper sport.

We got the nipper sport and we have it just over a year, it has a fixed frontwheel and I find it brilliant for running with, I've done upto 13miles with the little lad in it and he's happy out in it. This is what it looks like:

The sport though isn't small unless you take all the wheels off which is a pain, with the wheels on it can just about fit in our estate car.

It's great for off road and we tend to use it for any walks we go on, but its not the buggy of choice for shops.

The out and about nipper you've mentioned should be fine for the likes of tarmac and is more suited as a all purpose buggy as well as a running buggy in my view. So if you are trying to do things on a budget its a decent choice.

thanks a million. It’s the single V4 (non sport) that I was looking at. I’m looking at second hand as I have a small budget and have spent so much on baby equipment this year 🙈 I would love a nipper sport however it’s rare they come up second hand and I cannot stretch to new at all.

I also use it for running, with the front wheel lockable (very important), the locked wheel is much safer when running. It is not as good as dedicated sport but is very good nonetheless. If your looking at the single version of this I'd say go for it.
