Covid vaccines safety

  • Registered Users Posts: 22,716 ✭✭✭✭ King Mob

Again, statements of fact with no backing up.

So all can be dismissed as lies.

Also it indicates that he doesn't actually know how vaccines work.

And I wonder if he's going to be pulled up for claiming something grants immunity...

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,422 ✭✭✭ silliussoddius

Natural immunity runs the risk of death. Something pro-life religious people are most likely against.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,037 ✭✭✭ Harryd225

''RT is Russian propaganda'' absolute rubbish that RT is any less reliable than sky news or BBC news it's simply showing things from a different perspective so when people view RT and see a different perspective to something like a country in the middle east they think it must be propaganda because the sacred BBC news or the sacred Fox news or whatever have a different one.

  • Registered Users Posts: 22,716 ✭✭✭✭ King Mob

    Huh. Weird.

Another random poster who decided to randomly dig up a months old post to nitpick, yet doesn't seem to have any issue with the endless lies, propaganda and dishonesty from the anti vaxxers on the thread...

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,530 ✭✭✭ Fighting Tao

Hello another new account. Haven’t we met before?

Why dig up 7 month old posts? How about all the posts since where so much nonsense has been posted by your compatriots? Do you have any evidence of how vaccines are unsafe? Or are you going to post nonsense too?

The unvaccinated who recovered from covid are also less likely to catch covid, be more adapted to fight various variants, to experience nonsymptomatic covid and are far less likely to die from covid than vaccinated.

You might want to qualify the above with actual numbers. Start with unvaccinated who recover from covid are less likely to die from covid (second infection) than those that are vaccinated. It's far from as simple as you're making it out to be.

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,490 ✭✭✭✭ Timberrrrrrrr

"It is called natural immunity which is far more robust and longer lasting. It is a complete no-brainer."

So why do we have an annual flu jab? Surely once someone has had the flu then would be

"less likely to catch flu, be more adapted to fight various variants, to experience nonsymptomatic flu and are far less likely to die from flu than vaccinated."??

  • Subscribers Posts: 35,725 ✭✭✭✭ sydthebeat

Unvaccinated people are twice as likely to re-catch the delta variant as compared to "recovered" cases who also have received a vaccination, according to Israeli studies.

So in every way possible, being vaccinated is better for you than being unvaccinated

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,075 ✭✭✭ patnor1011

Please, read twice before you write.

In case you still do not see it I am not talking about unvaccinated people. I have said that unvaccinated people who recovered from covid are less likely to catch it and are more adapted to fight other variants.

That is undisputable fact or as some of you like to say - It is science.

Recovery from covid has been found to grant people broader and longer lasting protection than any current vaccine.

It was on the first page when I clicked on the thread, one of the only comments I read on here.

So if it's a fact, why aren't you providing any source for this claim?

Why do you keep ignoring people asking you do to this?

Usually it's because you're lying and you don't have any source to back up your claim.

Also, even if this is the case, you are ignoring the fact that a person who isn't vaccinated is more likely to die or be hospitalised, is more likely to spread the virus and more likely to contribute to the possibility of variations.

But of course, you're plugging your ears and screaming LALALA really loud, so all that stuff can't bother you...

  • Registered Users Posts: 22,716 ✭✭✭✭ King Mob

Lol ok. So you just randomly picked one comment on the entire thread to express your opinion on without reading anything else?

    That's very strange.

So now you've read more of the thread, any comment on the false claims and dishonest behaviour of the anti vaxx conspiracy theorists?

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,235 ✭✭✭✭ Dohnjoe

Direct medical exemptions aside, from a risk perspective there's no reason for people to be unvaccinated. They place themselves and others at increased risk. Are you vaccinated, if no, what is your reason?

There's a religion that doesn't allow vaccination in a pandemic? Please provide the details.

It's direct Russian propaganda that was originally commissioned by Putin for that purpose. Less than 5% of Russians speak English, it's aimed at putting a heavy Russian spin on international news for a foreign audience. It's the equivalent of one of the Kremlin's troll factories in "news" form.

  • Subscribers Posts: 35,725 ✭✭✭✭ sydthebeat

And perhaps if YOU read what I wrote you would see that, In a comparison between people who had covid and recovered, being unvaccinated means you are twice as likely to catch covid again.

What about this is difficult for you to understand?

    1. Being vaccinated reduces your risk of catching covid

    2. Being vaccinated greatly reduces your risk of getting very ill from covid

    3. Being vaccinated reduces your risk of spreading covid, as you are transmissible for a much shorter length of time

    4. Having had covid, and being vaccinated reduces your risk of catching covid again by half

These are not difficult factors to understand, yet you to to frame your argument that being unvaccinated is better for you

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,176 ✭✭✭ protonmike

In relation to natural immunity. Boosters are showing early signs of being more effective than natural infection. On top of that, the CDC released a study that views vaccination to be far more predictable in terms of preventing reinfection.

On top of that, just catching COVID is in itself unpredictable. Eg catch a new variant such as omicron and that's giving more extreme effects to younger people. So your logic is risk death or long term health damage in the hope it's more effective than vaccines..

Religious reasons are a largely bullshit reason. Below is a breakdown of all major religions. One Dutch reformed church objects, we don't appear to have any dutch reformed church in the country so suspect adherents are pretty low in the country.

That's how you view it because of western propaganda, anything questions the western narrative on things like the middle east for example will always be dismissed as rubbish in one way or another.

RT is simply an alternate point of view so when people who are accustomed to watching western propaganda and then view Russian propaganda they cannot accept it.

Things like the questioning the Libyan war and actually letting us hear Gaddafi and his forces side of the story rather than the usual rubbish we were fed that whole time.

Ever since the Libyan uprising started on 15 February, the foreign media have regurgitated stories of atrocities carried out by Gaddafi's forces.

It is now becoming clear that reputable human rights organisations such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have been unable to find evidence for most of these.

For instance, they could find no credible witnesses to the mass rapes said to have been ordered by Gaddafi or the secret sex dungeon he was alleged to have had-

Contrast this responsible attitude with that of Hillary Clinton and Western media or the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Luis Moreno-Ocampo, who blithely suggested that Gaddafi was using rape as a weapon of war to punish the rebels.

Sorry man, any comment on the actual topic? Any comment on the questions I've asked you?

Or are you just wanting to go on a rant about a post you just happened to pick at random without reading any other post on the thread?

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,490 ✭✭✭✭ Timberrrrrrrr

Ah don't feed it, sure he's in t'other thread telling us all how great Farage is 🤣🤣

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,075 ✭✭✭ patnor1011

You keep asking the same thing. I already told you that I had covid so there is no reason and pretty much zero benefit for me to get a vaccine.

I actually had it twice, second time unfortunately I got infected recently by a colleague in work who decided to come in hour earlier and clearly very ill also with temperature. But he reckoned that he is ok since he had his vaccines and who am I to tell him otherwise. I would not even know I have it if not my GP who sent me for a test despite having zero symptoms only after I mentioned to him that he is off work due to covid in the family. Long story short I had no symptoms and even contact tracers and doctor who called me 2 days after my test agreed there is no reason for me to isolate or stay at home.

Wife, who also had covid first time with me many months ago failed to get infected this time most likely because she is in much better shape physically than I am. 20+ months and still strong immunity is quite an argument which is hard to dismiss.

Religious exemption is largely based on individual consciousness and how would one come to a terms of using product which do the use cells from aborted children.

    Lol what ridiculous reasoning.

You're claiming that because you have had covid all the doctors and studies you've been pointed to are all wrong. That's plain idiotic.

If you aren't just making **** up that is, then it's idiotic and dishonest.

And now you're saying that the religious exemption is based entirely on whatever the individual person dreams up and claims is their belief?

    And lol, "aborted children"?

You've very desperate for sticks to try and beat vaccines with.

And again of course, it's a lie.

Do the COVID-19 vaccines contain aborted fetal cells?

Answer from infectious disease expert and practicing Catholic James Lawler, MD

No, the COVID-19 vaccines do not contain any aborted fetal cells. However, fetal cell lines – cells grown in a laboratory based on aborted fetal cells collected generations ago – were used in testing during research and development of the mRNA vaccines, and during production of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Before we dig into the science, I’d like to have a word

It is true that decades ago, scientists decided to use fetal tissue to start the cell lines we use to test drugs today. However, the description of ongoing modern fetal tissue harvesting to create vaccines is dishonest sensationalism.

    And this is pretty clear:

The Vatican and bishops agree. The Vatican has issued clear guidance that permits Roman Catholics in good faith to receive COVID-19 vaccines that use fetal cell lines in development or production. Read the Vatican's comments on the morality of receiving a COVID-19 vaccine

    Also, isn't it really odd?

We have religious people telling us that their bodily integrity is more important than the lives and health of other people because their religion tells them so.

And the reason their religion tells us so is because their religion says abortion is wrong. It says that abortion is wrong because someone's (a woman's) bodily integrity is not more important that the life and health of another person.

So yea, religious exemptions are kinda silly.

Not sure what they've to do with vaccine safety though.

Have conspiracy theorists just given up on those claims?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,973 ✭✭✭ Chris_Heilong

No matter what you think, the facts are if your body has created an antibody to any virus that antibody stays with you for life. This has been proved with the vaccines you got when we were kids. There is a lot of miss information out there and one of them is about antibody miraculously disappearing from your body sorry but no, The reason why people who have the original strain antibody get covid again is that covid has mutated beyond the tolerance of those antibodies but it will be less server as the body works code the new antibodies based on the original. Getting multiple injections of the exact same cocktail as a vaccine is not going to do anything for anyone, the only ones benefitting are the companies who make vaccines and the 'research' they fund. So make sure that the booster actually contains new strain or else it is a complete waste of time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,490 ✭✭✭✭ Timberrrrrrrr

"the facts are if your body has created an antibody to any virus that antibody stays with you for life."

So why is there a need for an annual flu jab?

  • Subscribers Posts: 35,725 ✭✭✭✭ sydthebeat

How many tetanus shots have you had?

    • Tetanus can be prevented through immunization with tetanus-toxoid-containing vaccines (TTCV). However, people who recover from tetanus do not have natural immunity and can be infected again.

I love how easy it is to disprove the misinformation here

  • Registered Users Posts: 22,716 ✭✭✭✭ King Mob

You never need more than 5 seconds of googling.

Which begs the question, do conspiracy theorists not do this 5 seconds of googling before believing something? Or do they do it, but then claim it anyway?

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,235 ✭✭✭✭ Dohnjoe

You had Covid twice. You can catch it again. If you are vaccinated you are lowering the chance you get it, lowering the chance you pass it on to your family/friends if you do and reducing the potential severity of it. I had a perfectly healthy colleague with no underlying conditions who died in less than a week from it, Covid can be notoriously unpredictable. I strongly suspect you want to roll the dice because of your extreme personal views (anti-vax, anti-lockdown, etc), i.e. selfishness and ignorance.

There's no cells from aborted children in the vaccine.

You still haven't provided any logical reason (beside medical exemptions) not to be unvaccinated in this pandemic. As for "religious exemptions" - if someone is working as a nurse or doctor in the ICU, their "religion" doesn't stop them being vaccinated, that is complete BS, they'd be told to get vaccinated or not bother coming in.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,235 ✭✭✭✭ Dohnjoe

I'm not interested in your personal political views or soapboxing. Any conspiracies or views on vaccines?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,530 ✭✭✭ Fighting Tao

Yes there is a lot of misinformation out there and you are spreading it.

Even the smallpox vaccine had a declining immunity as time went on. So you're clearly pretty uninformed on this topic. Your conspiracy requires all the researchers and scientists specialising in immunology etc to be lying. So a pretty massive lie to the point of being ridiculous.
