Another genius lazy to read, I didn't suggest nor mentioned lockdown. You guys have some imagination.

Ah Heidi you need to get out and stop keeping yourself locked away. I am out enjoying myself. Maybe you should try that as well. And by the way out health system has been fooked for years so stop trying to blame the pandemic

It was a simple question? You seem to give the impression that we can’t live with Covid, so would a lockdown be the solution? Do you want one? Simple yes or no.

It's remarkable how NPHET are in the ascendency again, remember they were to be disbanded this month? That was casually swept under the carpet, and with that there's a swagger in Tony's step. Now the word "lockdown" is being bandied about like something to be taken for granted. Haven't people suffered enough already. We made the sacrifices, took the vaccines...what more do NPHET and the government want. Enough of their gloomy narrative, risk cannot be completely avoided and therefore life must go on. Here's one basic idea for the geniuses in high office: Fix the health service and stop vilifying Joe Public.

The path to avoiding more restrictions would appear to be narrowing by the day. A reckless approach has been adopted since the summer not just by those in charge but by many ordinary people who feel entitled in a global pandemic to have their enjoyment and do what they like.

This is not just an Ireland issue, it's a western issue, a societal one.

The only way out of rolling restrictions is the complete suppression of this virus. There is no other way.

And we will go through this trauma as the price of people, for example, wanting a night out?

There is something seriously eschew in the priorities and how we are going about things.

Making an observation, I like everyone else want normality. I am not 'scared', I still had pints but I am pointing out why we could end up in another lockdown, packed bars, no certs being asked for etc, you need to learn what a pandemic is and lay off the pathetic responses. Its not a sad view, its the reality of the situation we are in. Looking at your comments, I am waiting for you now to say Tony wants to shut the pubs and control us.

The only thing that will halt this is the merck and pfizer drugs that will halt the progression of the disease, that combined with vaccines.

Just look to Eastern Europe and Russia to see the damage the unvaccinated are doing

I am out and about, thanks for your concern.

But I'm avoiding thronged bars and crowded indoor areas, because I feel like I should take some Personal Responsibility (you know, that thing you keep banging on about) for trying to slow the spread of the virus.

And if our health service was fooked before a pandemic hit, do you not think that some modification of behaviour might be necessary until we get it adjusted accordingly? Not that I'm holding my breath on that front, mind you.

Scarcely believable this flippant mentality persists after 19 months of damaging restrictions. Talk about being shrouded in bubble wrap, perilously at odds with the real world.

No I’m not one of those NPHET=Illuminati confirmed types. As I see it I spent 18 months following restrictions, I missed family milestones/contact for months on end. I wash my hands on entry and exit from every shop, I wear a clean mask daily and I’ve got both my vaccine shots as soon as I was able to. I’ve done my part.

If the numbers are rising now and deaths increase - it’s sad and all but I really don’t care anymore, I’m sick of the whole fuckin thing at this point and I’ve done what was asked but I’m not doing a single thing more. I’m willing to take my chances now and get back to normal - the threat is always there just like flu and if I get it I get it. Just like I could get hit by a bus or crash my car or die in a house fire tomorrow, life is for living not to be a shivering nervous wreck about what “might” happen.

Look i am fully vaccinated and as we were told by the government/NPHET when vaccines came out that anyone fully vaccinated can get back to some sort of normality like before covid and thats what i am doing 😀

Yes a total clueless post you replied to. I’m guessing the poster climbed from under the bed after a few months and doesn’t realise that zero covid with Delta is not possible.

God, you're like a stroppy sulky child - "but, but the gubbermint SAID i could go back to normal"

That was before the goalposts changed (aka delta variant) - yes, that's ****, but that unfortunately that's reality at the moment.

You stamping your foot at the unfairness of it all won't change a thing

Unfortunately I think the vast majority of people would obey another lockdown!

You know whats wrong, theres too many curtain twitchers/ busy bodies like yourself thats still living in fear of covid whos not happy that people like myself who are trying to get back to some sort of normality and who are out enjoying themselves.

Oh, it's all about you, isn't it?

Not bothered replying to that bunch of tired clichés, if I'm honest.

    And I'm out.

You need to come out from under that bed and start living again 😆

Nphet and the government decided to stop contact tracing in schools. The teachers were against it and in one school were they had over 30 cases and the school staff wanted to close the school temporarily and have remote learning. Next day they are forced by the authorities to reopen. A lot of retarded decisions were made by the government and Nphet there that caused it to spread. They can't keep blaming the non vaxxed because it's the government and Nphets incompetent decision in this case that caused it to spread. I want to live my life the way I want to live it and I'm fully vaxxed. Any dog on the street could have told Tony Houlihan that covid could spread from children to adults. See what I did there.

Coming up to Christmas I can see another lock down coming, how bad I'm not sure but hopefully not as worse as last Christmas

I reckon there will be several more lockdowns. Nothing can be ruled out. Novel Virus. Case numbers still strongly correlated with hospital cases. Nobody seems to know what the threshold is for herd immunity. We might be out of this by spring 2022. Or Spring 2031. Look how long some smallpox epidemics lasted. 3, 5 even 10 years. All bets off at this point.

I love how people say I won't accept a lockdown. What can you do if the shops are closed and hospitality is closed? We will just have to accept it unfortunately.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,628 ✭✭✭Micky 32

It depends on the person’s circumstances 😉

If hospitality shuts down again I suppose its back to the shebeens so 😉

If it's safe to stay open now, its an admittance all the lockdowns in Ireland after lockdown 1 were a mistake

If the cases begin to decline themselves in a few weeks, it's proof the lockdowns were a costly waste of time economically and socially.

Over 90% of people are vaccinated. If we have another lockdown that means that vaccines have failed. We must have one of the highest percentages of population vaccinated in a country in the world. If we end up in another lockdown after that I mean it just seems ridiculous.

You probably won't kill them irrespective of whether they've been injected or not. COVID has an incredibly low mortality rate.

Sensible people who detest virtue signalling masks are also opposed to all other idiotic (not to forget unlawful) restrictions, including so-called "lockdowns".

Actions speak louder than words. If you want to go around creating as many opportunities as possible for virus to spread then you really want a lockdown
