Day trip/Cycling Base suggestions

Found myself with some time off in Nov. I'm based in Dublin. Looking for some inspiration for a full day trip. IE Galway to Dublin or, alternatively, stay somewhere and use it as a base to cyle an area over 2/3 days. Love me some nice views!

Have several 100KMs under the belt and a 160Km (100 miler) since purchasing the bike. Concious of sever weather (don't mind rain/wind/cold generally), traffic and isolation in case something goes wrong. Would anyone have any suggestions? I will be looking to go midweek.

You can literally pick any place in the country, use Strava or Komoot and plan a couple of routes.

I did similar a couple years ago and went to Dingle and did Slea Head drive one day, a loop that included Connor Pass another.

The views in Kerry are pretty decent but it's not widely known because the locals are so bashful.

First step- what part of the country do you want to go to? Cork/Kerry, Galway/Mayo/Clare etc. and take it from there.

Once you have that decided I'm sure people here would happily recommend routes. Some I've done recently-

The Hospice Cycle this year was based in Killarney and we had two magnificent days of cycling a few weeks ago. I can share the routes with you if you plan heading that direction. Admittedly we were very lucky with the weather. I took the bike down and back on the train which was a no-brainer thanks to having the free travel card!

There are some nice long-distance routes out of Dublin that avoid busy roads but the scenery and climbs in Kerry and West Cork are remarkable.

Cannot beat Sligo if you ask me

West out to Ballina and Ox mountains

South/south west towards Keish and Boyle

North to Donegal

East into Leitrim,Cavan, Fermanagh

Good accommodation in Sligo with 3/4 very good hotels.

You also have that excellent mountain bike area in Coolaney?
