    237lbs or heavier for wilder?

I don't see that at all going by the fact he's normally been sub 220lbs or there abouts for most of his fights.

Yes....I think one judge had Wilder 10-9 in the first four rounds...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 59,654 ✭✭✭✭walshb

He has been in the high 220s several times, and was 230+ for Fury II

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,954 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

He was 231 in the last fight & he looks much thicker around the chest and shoulders this time ,

I stand corrected. Never decked he was 230+ for the 2nd for all the good it did him.

Was it fight 1 he complained of a cold and weighed in light?

Either way he can't fight at all off the back foot so this remains key to a Fury victory.

Aw I was just messing with YDR he obviously meant 2… rather than 1… for the weights. I reckon he’s spot on. I don’t really think wilder has an ideaL weight for this fight I think Fury’s footwork and aggression inside were the major problems.

but I do think he has a better jab than he used in either fight or in the second Ortiz fight. If he’s worked on it then he will stand a better chance of keeping Fury off him, create the space he needs and throw the bombs

Bear in mind all four officials are U.S.

Fury is not concerned, but it just can’t be right.

Same as when Ward fought Kovalev a few years ago..

Anyone take a look at the show on BT tonight before the weigh in? Wilder getting a 115-111 judge’s card was pretty mental.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,379 ✭✭✭squinn2912

Peculiar that. If, somehow, it’s in the balance then that would give Wilder an edge

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,379 ✭✭✭squinn2912

While I’m having an internal debate I think I need to mention that Fury got a slow 9 count and about 10 more seconds afterwards while the referee figured out if he was fit to continue or not. I would understand if Wilder felt hard done by.

Wilder ranks his “KO” in fight 2 as being in his top three.

Fury was down for 10-11 seconds

of course, it’s the referee’s count that matters.

Was very lucky it wasn’t waved off. That ref has waved off other fights.

Unless Golden Boy is involved it's generally not a worry.

    Fury 277

    Wilder 238

Fury guzzling water before going out.

    Big from Wilder. Very big.

Massive from Fury. Two very big men

Wilder talking about he won’t be rushing me or anything like that... Not the most positive thing to be preoccupied about.

God the bomb squad nonsense is cringe

Fury much the brighter. Fury’s interview is hilarious.

Wilder already looks like hes in the headlights. I was hoping hed be the one all worked up.

Ohh close Fury was 1 lbs lighter and Wilder 1 lbs heavier than i predicted

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,954 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

Wilder kept bouncing side to side as the commentator chap says you seem more calm & still,

I expected Wilder to put on a few lbs but he may have over done it here,, Its a ko insolode 4 for him or he's done at tjat weight

Also Furu was fully clothed with trianers and a hat on, Last time he was just in his boxers, Plus he was lashings the water into him before stepping on the scale

I wouldn't say he weighs much more than last time out,

Big move up for Wilder. Fury says he cant carry weight but the man has some shape. That gain looks like Wilder is there to throw big and early. I’ve said all along that there’s no guarantee Fury can be as good as he was last time. Pressure is on him now. First time round he didn’t defend his belts so this is his first defence as champion. His baby’s health will have had some impact. If Wilder is ambitious enough to go for it it isn’t beyound plausability that Fury will lose concentration a time or two and might just get caught.

Yep, Wilder aiming for an early finish is the only sense I can make of him weighing that much.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,379 ✭✭✭squinn2912

It’s a funny one. He put on 20lbs and got ragdolled about and looked low on energy, the logical move would be to go back down a bit. It’s all reaction too.

It'd be unreal if Tyson Fury came out to The Undertaker's theme tomorrow night haha

Aw he has to! That would be epic! Man is some showman. To give Wilder his dues he can do a ringwalk too. Some entertainment value in this one compared to last week’s dung. Real fights on the card too it’s incomparable. Usyk had a fair ringwalk and then AJ went into goof mode. More drama in this one

Wilder certainly looks bigger than previously, and it looks natural and comfortable. Very impressive looking physical specimen! Fury needs to be very careful early doors. I wonder if 238 Wilder may possess better physical strength, allowing him to compete in close that bit better? Enabling him to keep Fury more at bay..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,117 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

That’s certainly his plan and his trainer Malik said he has ten times the power of fury now, piling on muscle will certainly drain his gas tank

I think it’s a great looking card. At worst they’re all HW. Helenius and Kowancki is an interesting rematch after Helenius caught and stopped him in a bit of an upset last day out. Although I think Kow is a hype job so I fancy Helenius to do the business again.

Sanchez and Ajagba is the co main and I don’t know much about either but Sanchez is a Cuban and supposedly very skilled while Ajagba is a big big hitter. My plan is 2.00 - 2.30 am
