Hey folks. I am getting an early birthday present for myself over the weekend of a series S, and want to get set up with game pass ultimate too. If I am reading this thread correctly, I should purchase 2 x 12 month xbox live gold passes, 1 x 6 month gold pass and then avail of 1 month of GPU (free/pay/whichever), and it would mean that I'll end up with 31 months of GPU?

I can very easily go visit Turkey/etc - if I did this, do I only need to take a trip when subscribing, but the actual day-to-day account/etc can be set up as Irish? Any pointers would be appreciated, it's my first Xbox since the OG Xbox.

You could get 3 12 month cards and activate it, it stacks up to 36 months. When the guide was written MS were giving a free month every time you toggled auto renew.

Fyi GameStop are currently giving free digital codes of Fifa 22 with Series S purchases.

Re. Getting 3 year licences, if I got them abroad do they work on an Irish account? And if I then later got an Irish licence can I add it on?

You need to wait for the current sub to expire or use the same region.

Before I take the plunge, can someone sanity check that my understanding is correct. This is what I think I need to do:

Buy 3 x 12 month Xbox Live Gold vouchers (from Eneba)
Apply all 3
Buy 1 month of Gamepass Ultimate (in same region as the gold, I assume this is on the normal Microsoft Store?)
Final cost ~€81 or thereabouts.

Right?

I did the above, but used CD keys. Applied all codes on the Xbox website and also you get an additional month for turning on auto renew which can then be turned off once the free month is applied.

I think you only get 1 free month, not 1 free month everytime you apply a code.

I feel like I've made a mistake. I ordered a gold 12 month key from Eneba (from Turkey) and connected to vpn. Its showing as the Turkish Microsoft site, but when I try to apply the code it says there's an error, something to do with risk.

I'm going to have a bash off fifa tonight, and come back to this tomorrow.

Seems that way. I'm still waiting to activate my first 12 month gold Pass, but there's a note on the xbox support page (https://support.xbox.com/en-US/) that there's currently an issue affecting some users activating prepaid subscriptions, so waiting for that to resolve.

If/when I get everything set up I'll add some notes here.

Slightly unrelated but still a way to get a month's free GPU every 3 months.

XboX Ambassador program next 3 month season started. Piece of cake and just a bit of clicking every other day. Most of the quests you don't have to do,just click on them and it punches in.

I have 2 free GPUs in last Six months.

Finally got this sorted. I don't think I did it the best way, and it was way more awkward than I expected. I was mad busy all weekend so was trying this in the few minutes of spare time I got, so I'm going to leave that as my explanation/excuse. This is what I did:

I did not have any active XBox live subscription of any kind.
I purchased 3 x 12 month Turkish subs from Eneba (cost = €83.60 total)
I switched my microsoft and xbox accounts to Turkish regions. I used Tor with exitNodes of Turkey instead of VPN (I am on work computer, so can't add VPN, but have tor).
I activated the 3 x licences, they worked fine.
I tried to upgrade to Gamepass Ultimate using the MS Store on Irish IP, didn't work (said I needed to be same region as my account)
I tried to upgrade to Gamepass Ultimate using the MS Store on Turkish IP, didn't work (said my MS Store region was wrong, then said card was wrong)
I purchased a 1 month GPU key from Eneba (cost = €6.54).
I activated the key, it worked and gave me an extra month on top by activating auto-renewal.

I now have GPU up to 03/11/2024.

Total cost (excluding my sanity at points): €90.14
Total savings (if you just subscribe to GPU directly in Ireland): €277.63 (assuming you buy 3 x 12 month GPU keys from CDKeys for total of €367.77)
Total savings (if you subscribe to Xbox live, then convert 1 month of GPU in Ireland): €64.43 (assuming you buy 3 x 12 months Xbox live gold for a total of €153.57 and then 1 month GPU for €1)

I must switch my account back to Ireland in a few months, but otherwise all looks good I think.

I don't think you need to switch your account to turkey. Just activate the codes while connected to the VPN.

It would convert to 3 months GPU. Make sure auto renew is off and wait for your subscription to expire, then redeem and re subscribe to GPU to get the full year.

Okay - so my sub is out -and I'm about to do the following:

Redeem my CDkeys 12 month live gold on my xbox one console
Buy one month of ultimate game pass

Will this then lead to 13 months of ultimate game pass or 4 months of Gamepass? I read somewhere that 12 months of gold will convert to 3 months of Ultimate - I'm just confused - any help greatly appreciated.

Think it converts to 4 months of GPU only if your current sub hasn’t expired as yet, but your good for 13 months if the sub is out….. stand to be corrected but that’s my understanding.

Hi, slightly off topic but I did the suggested a few months ago and everything was fine, got 3 years worth of xbox live and game pass, had it on both the series x and the xbox one. But for some reason the young lad changed the "my home xbox" to the xbox one and now that doesn't seem to have gamepass on it.

If I go and change it back, will all go back to the way it was? or is there something else I need to do? Or is it ruined now?
