He picked Casey, Westwood and Hatton to many times also played Rory when to everyone else he was out of form... he deserves plenty of criticism in fairness

Rory out first in the singles and delivers, the looks like the Postman delivers as well.

Morikawa is just a classy player and person. Someone you can easily root for

No European Captain, with the pick of any players from the last 20 years, would have assembled a team to beat this US team this week. Did Harrington get a few things wrong? Absolutely he did. But captains get things wrong every year but it’s only when something like this happens it gets magnified x100 times.

Too many Europeans didn’t perform and that’s the difference. They aren’t machines and they came up against a US team that literally everything went right for them over the week and this is probably the strongest team ever put out in a Ryder Cup. It looked like every putt European players from outside 10 feet slid by the hole. It’s been a strange couple of days golf to be honest I don’t know if it’s the course layout or what but something just seemed off about the whole thing.

An inquiry?? Ya Harrington got a few of the pairings wrong but you're looking at one of the best US teams ever assembled and they're performing too... Europe were never going to be close as long at American team performed to their ability!

Pity that Koepka tee shot didn't drop on 17, would have been an unreal way to win. Kind of a damp squib moment of victory in the end coming on a missed putt. Delighted for Hovland to get the half though... he played very well this week.

With Furyk and Stricker involved I'm surprised they didn't find a way to lose it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,500 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

Would've been even stranger if Hovland had holed for birdie as it would've technically been the winning putt!

Well done Hovland, great effort to tie that match.

Not hindsight - as I said from the off - Paddy never should have taken the job ., too young and was still competing . He just spent 2 years at that - when he should have been hanging in there on his golf. Sure look a phil.

A job for a man in his 50s

Still a chance to avoid the record defeat. Well worth playing for.

So folks. Who performed well for the Europeans this week and can hold their head up high. Sergio and Rahm anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,039 ✭✭✭✭FixdePitchmark

Sure put up the list of points won

I think Sergio's performance is a bit overcooked. He lived off Rahm.

Absolutely, hoping Poulter wins to extend his amazing singles record

So you're calling for an inquiry into how a team put in what you deem a disgraceful performance against a team that you think will dominate for years.

Do you not see how you're contradicting yourself there?

No doubt Harrington got somethings wrong but not that mucb.

No need for enquiries they lost against an excellent US team. Don't forget Europe dominated in last Ryder Cup do these things can change quickly.

Sad for Poulter - he knows his Ryder Cup life is over.

Casey should get the Nicklaus-Jacklin award for missing that putt

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 479 ✭✭Joedryan

Another putt missed by Casey to tie his match, ah well

    Poults wins, well done!

I'm not a Poulter fan, well I'm Spurs, so I wouldn't be, but I feel for him there, delighted he at least won his match, this means so much to him.

Well done Poults and thanks for the Ryder Cup memories. The Sad person on here that was hoping he would be hammered must be very disappointed.

I couldn’t give a toss about the event but Harrington got more than the pairings wrong, his captains picks weren’t great. Yes Lowry picked up a point and Poulter looks like he will today but Garcia, Poulter and Lowry have terrible records at that course, this wasn’t any different, they shouldn’t have been picked on the back of that much alone.

    Shane Lowry - MC 2010 (71-79), MC 2015 (78-69)

    Sergio Garcia - 54th 2015 (72-71-75-70), MC 2010 (78-69), MC 2004 (73-73)

2004 - Sergio Garcia "I don't think I've ever played anything as tough as this. I think this is definitely the toughest course I've ever played in my life."

    Ian Poulter - MC 2015 (75-75), MC 2010 (72-72-77), 37th 2004 (73-72-70-73)

As an aside, that was one of the most anticlimactic ends to any major sporting even that I can recall. Pure sh*t.

It’s tears of joy hearing the Arsenal Spurs result!

    Edit: beaten to it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,903 ✭✭✭✭fullstop

Who would you have picked instead as the 3 picks?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,039 ✭✭✭✭FixdePitchmark

I love America - the idea - the dream. But there is something about it now. Angry , unpleasant , overly flash and arrogant. It is a real post Trump era.

Xander will be on his arse in a minute 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,768 ✭✭✭Xander10

I think Poulter would make a great Captain. Not Westwood for me.
