Who does Rose go in for that makes an ounce of a difference? Lot of players not playing well, they were going to need some luck. When it came to putting, USA were light years ahead, holed a huge amount of excellent putts

A disgraceful performance by team europe bar the odd performance.

An inquiry needs to be held to see how Harrington got it so wrong. Some of the picks and pairings just really poor.

I think team USA will dominate for years now.

That JT putt on the 13th was for the cup, it wasn't even mentioned!

I said earlier I'd any of those are on the team in 2 years then we are big trouble with talent coming through in Europe. 11 of the 12 Americans are younger than McIlroy and we'd even be looking to get plenty more appearances out of him.

The week is no slight on Padraig, he could have done a few pairings different but we just didn't have the players and form this time round.

It's no slight on his career as he has his Majors, for previous winning captains it's been Ryder cup or nothing.

Shame not many games got to the 17th and 18th. Two great holes

You win some you lose some. That is a phenomenal US team who fired on all cylinders. Not many European teams would have beaten this team. Europe will need to rebuild - the oldies were alright, the newbies were alright.

Hovland would be a shoe-in for the Jacklin award if he gave your man that putt!😝

It's amazing how the worst captains all took teams to the US and lost! Amazing that all the good captains get the home matches!!

Who'll get the captaincy in 2023? Westwood and Zach Johnson?

Amazing on an Irish forum how critical people are of McIlroy, Harrington

Im on a couple of UK based golf forums and they're much more understanding of the whole thing, better team won this week. McIlroy was really off but he is obviously is aware of that himself, who knows what could be going on away from golf. Give him a break lads

As for Harrington it's impossible to say how good/bad he was as captain. From what I've seen and read he prepared everything to a tee! After that he can't exactly go out and hit the shots, players simply didn't perform. Before it ever started you could see the Americans had a much stronger group and Europe would need everything going right but there was too many players off form and who's best days are in the past

Maybe that is why the English lads are all brutal.

Unreal US team in fairness, played better than us simple.

Not easy when your away and particularly when there are little to no European fans.

It will be analysed over the coming days for sure but none if them players wanted to lose.

That's sport, win some lose some!

I'd bring back McGinley as captain....he by all accounts was fantastic

WE ARE STILL IN THIS _

I don't understand how it isn't already declared over. Morikawa guaranteed half a point...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,189 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

That'd be intriguing but McGinley is far too sharp to take it on with the way the US team is shaping up for the next decade. He's got something of a mystique from 2014, he'd be a fool to put that at risk.

He does have that fire in the belly personality.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,141 ✭✭✭DellyBelly

He picked Casey, Westwood and Hatton to many times also played Rory when to everyone else he was out of form... he deserves plenty of criticism in fairness

Rory out first in the singles and delivers, the looks like the Postman delivers as well.

Morikawa is just a classy player and person. Someone you can easily root for

No European Captain, with the pick of any players from the last 20 years, would have assembled a team to beat this US team this week. Did Harrington get a few things wrong? Absolutely he did. But captains get things wrong every year but it’s only when something like this happens it gets magnified x100 times.

Too many Europeans didn’t perform and that’s the difference. They aren’t machines and they came up against a US team that literally everything went right for them over the week and this is probably the strongest team ever put out in a Ryder Cup. It looked like every putt European players from outside 10 feet slid by the hole. It’s been a strange couple of days golf to be honest I don’t know if it’s the course layout or what but something just seemed off about the whole thing.
