Considering Europe need the first 4 or 5 points just to compete, I think starting with McIlroy is a real error.

He's way out of form, is lacking confidence, isn't a good enough putter anyhow and is unreliable.

He should have only been used in the 4 balls each day to try to play him into some form. Persevering with him like he's one of the best players in the European team, when clearly at the moment he's one of the weakest is a major mistake imho.

P.s. in his losing 4 ball with Poulter yesterday, in 15 holes, he came into just 3 holes, with 3 measly pars!! That's crap competitive golf.

I know I'm looking at this with the ability of hindsight - but anyone else feel Padraig has been a bit out of place or something.

He is used to being his own man , in control of his own thing. He has seemed uncomfortable.

You'd have to look at Europe and the lack of young people coming through. Hovland, grand. But when you look at the people competing for the captains pick, last minute spots or just missed out, it was Lowry (34), Garcia (41), Rose (41), Westwood (48). Poulter (45).

The next cabs off the rank were miles away. Victor Perez, Migliozzi, McIntyre. Those guys may come good for 2 years time plus the odd bolter but there isn't much coming through or for Harrington to pick from this time out.

The US had way more options and will have all of this team (depending on form) available the next time out plus the newer guys on the scene. The US could be going on a bit of a win streak.

At least it will be the end of "The Guardians of the Ryder Cup"

If Rory had to win his matches, the score would be 8 - 8

Anyone know how many bunkers are on this course? Looks like quite a lot and they never, ever, mention it. Ever.

BDC drives the green and knocks it in for an eagle 2 😮

Dechambeau really reminds me of that guy in Rocky 4, that big Russian (played by a Swede Dolph Lundgren), who had that evil stare and 'I VILL BREAK YOU!'

But I also remember how that movie ended. Really looking forward to how Sergio deals with him

What makes him insufferable? I know next to nothing about him
