Boards.ie API

Hi,

Quick question that's a touch geeky.

Does Boards.ie expose any API for developers to use? Preferably REST with JSON?

If not I think it could be a great idea. A few weeks ago I was working with a team at a hackathon on integrating Amazon Alexa on the new Echo devices. It was remarkably easy to provide in the home functionality to web service applications.

It would allow the development community to interact with boards.ie and produce value with little effort.

I guess I always could screenscape the site but that always makes it dependant on the HTML on the page.

https://success.vanillaforums.com/kb/articles/202-apiv2-reference-endpoints#/ - although not all endpoints are implemented, and some of the ones that are require non-standard permissions. I have used some of them in the script package in my signature, source-code included in the link.

One warning - there is a per-client rate limit of 300 GET or 60 POST/PUT/PATCH/DELETE requests per minute. If you hit it, you're locked out for a full hour. I only made that mistake once 🙂
