Oh ye do and fair play. but Nearly all clubs you name have always been division 1 or have been division 1 clubs for quite a while. im more talking about a lot of the newer senior clubs as well... Wesley have been division 1 for some time so not really been that much behind tarf, lansdowne.

Its a real shame though dont know how you change things or incentivise clubs to play in the cup. maybe for opening round and this is more valid when crowds are back to normal but maybe have first round where all the division 1 clubs have to play away if drawn to a division 2 club and you may get a good crowd in to see a Lansdowne/Tarf/UCD playing a senior side with maybe a fringe pro player or academy player or two in a Enniscorthy, Tullamore..

In fairness that is what Leinster have done this season. The lower division clubs have all been given home ties. It seems the clubs that have pulled out are D1 clubs Marys, Old Belvedere, Trinity, UCD

You could possibly understand the university teams but trinity playing last week would show they should be in. However Belvo and Marys are two big clubs. Very poor that they are not participating. Does anyone know why Naas pulled out versus Tarf?

Hopefully that will be maintained into future seasons. would be great to build Leinster senior cup and the others into much bigger occasions like what they used to be. bit more marketing, clubs getting involved with getting crowds in etc

Think it was a little all too easy for us in the end. I foolishly thought it was in Lakelanss and could go.

That isn't meant as any disrespect to Tullamore, but it's 4 divisions of a difference

My mate from Wesley was the Barnhall game. Said it was physical as hell, Wesley got two tries in last 10 min to finish it off, but that Barnhall missing their captain, the 8 and Darren Hudson at 12.

Didn't hear anything on Wanderers and Lansdowne, but all games went as they should in a sense.

No surprise that Trinity and Belvo, not fielding at 1s level this weekend had easy wins in the Metro Cup.

So this weekend is the quarter finals: Enniscorthy V Malahide, Greystones V Navan, Old Wesley V Lansdowne and Terenure V Clontarf. The winner of Greystones/Navan is at home to Terenure/Tarf and winners of Lansdowne/Wesley at home to Enniscorthy/Malahide dates tbc.

Munster Senior Cup semi finals from last weekend being played this coming weekend:

    Garryowen v Highfield

    Shannon v Young Munster

Rumours doing the rounds in Limerick is Garryowen have pulled out and wont be fulfilling the fixture (as well as other competitions like Transfield and McInerney cup), would be disappointing if they do this, not sure what the reasoning behind it is. Hard on Highfield if that is the case as the final is the following week and would obviously be at a disadvantage having no competitive game going into the final.

Believe Jordan Coughlan has signed for Terenure - very surprised he didn't sign for Clontarf given his family connections there.

Oh wow - thats superb, I had heard that Sean Skehan and Simon Malone had met him, but assumed when James Connolly came in tht was that.

    We are making moves.

Interesting move....... I take it he wasnt offered a renewal contract in either Leicester or nottingham then? I bumped into him back in june having known him years back and was asking how she was getting on out there never mentioned anything about coming back home though. Good player for nure going forward

Max Kearney has signed for Clontarf from Trinity

Apparently Shannon Young Munster game this weekend is now being billed as the final

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5 CapableOfSayingAnything

Yes, the both Garryowen and Highfield had issues with available front row forwards so both pulled out.

I think if they had known what was to transpire the branch would have pulled the plug on it.

However I think at the time the season was discussed the remaining teams were using it to get meaningful games before the new season starts.

Anyway it’s a chance of silverware for both clubs, been 2008 or so since Shannon won it and 2010 for Young Munster so they don’t come around easy.

While not exactly clubs who havent won it much at least its someone different from Con, Garryowen. last final without either playing was the 09/10 final and they played each other in 3 of those finals in the last decade.

That Queens and Banbridge result seems wild. But just don't know if sides have lads out with Covid etc or what side was put out.

That's a very decent win by Terenure. Any team sheets or scorers?

Not a whole lot on Twitter about it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 641 ✭✭✭Chico Flores

I'll ask the lads, to be honest, it is a little all cloak and daggers with the 1s this season, we used to get the team sheet in like a whats app but there is a new players chat.

Tries from Andrew Thompson, James Connolly, Stephen O'Neill and unsure on other two.
