Amazing how he get's off so light due to the pirate flag. Over 2 months to roll back from his false news where he scared our healthcare workers at the start of the pandemic but still a hero now as he was finally made to admit he was wrong. Ye can have him.

Periphery figure to the story. Nice handy figure for those who wish to portray politicians as martyrs and to do a bit of foaming at the mouth distraction.

Katherine Zappone's appointment was foiled, not. because of Cosgrove, it was foiled like the Black And Tan brainwave by a surge of public comment from across this society.

Politicians had no choice but to respond. Same with the attendance at the party, 76%, want to know who else felt they had the right to be there. Cosgrove is just one of that 76%

The guy is a disgrace. Pity because he was someone who a few years ago I thought was someone we could point to as an Irish success like the Stripe guys. Then he fell oout with FG and it went downhill since then. Shouting and roaring abotu FG one second and the next trying to promote his event, just crazy stuff

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,760 ✭✭✭dudley72

Oh bac onto the Black & Tans event. The Black and Tan event gives a good example of the government listening to the people.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 76,924 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

No it isn't. Had the government any understanding of 'the people' they wouldn't have tried that on. They 'reacted' to the people would be the correct way to phrase it.

And it was a bitter reaction from the two at the centre of it. Too arrogant to accept they had overstepped.

Plenty of people wanted the event as I posted before, the majority didn't so it was cancelled. If the event happened you could be outraged but it didn't so its just another pathetic display of faux outrage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,165 ✭✭✭Floppybits

Are you for real listening to the people? It should never have been up for discussion and the reaction of varadkar and Flanagan to having to cancel was like 2 kids having their toys taken off them. Which is not surprising with varadkar after the way he carried on after the GE result. Also how long did it take them to postpone the black and tan event?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 76,924 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

Zappone didn't happen either but the 'attempt' to install her will still have ramifications for those who again tried it on.

Varadkar, Flanagan and FG paid a price for the B&T shambles at the next election so trying to wave it away because 'it didn't happen' is futile.

Instead of humility from the two of them we got traditional haughty FG arrogance. Something similar to what we see here when they are challenged.

That is the implication in the power share falling from 86% vote share to just over 40% and if the trend continues looks like it will dip below the 40% in the next GE.

The change is happening, the days of arrogant cronyism and arrogance are over.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,760 ✭✭✭dudley72

As before, I provided an excellent link from BBC with a for/against person.

If the event happened then they didn't listen to the people.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,760 ✭✭✭dudley72

MOre blah blah blah with no point except for a rant. At this stage it is getting old.

You are calling for no cronyism yet all SF fans love Paddy, the only reason Paddy has it in for FG is because they wouldnt bend over backwards for him. You can be damn sure he is running around after SF because they have promised him something if he gets into power. What word would you call that?????? let me think?

Do you have any words for it?

The trend at the moment according to the latest poll is SF going nowhere :-)

If you really think a poll is a representative of the actual votes you are deranged

Look you can spin anyway you like if they listened to the people the event would have been cancelled immediately instead it took them a few days in the hopes that the anger and opposition to the event would go away and when it didn't then they finally relented and cancelled. They didn't listen to the people, they listened to the advisors who were telling them that they were losing seats in the GE if they carried on ignoring the people. Listen to the people, yeah thats a good one. Are you a member of Varadkars spin unit?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 76,924 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

Exactly...there was no vote nor any poll on the B&T event or Zappone.

The government REACTED because of that thing all the defenders say has no influence or impact..the reaction on social media mainly.

I have never seen a slither back into a hole like the B&T one, such was the reaction.

We'll probably get a diatribe about Paddy Cosgrove or SF, in response to this, but that is about all they can cling to.

    *Edit...oops. QED from duddley. 😁

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,760 ✭✭✭dudley72

    :-)

Event never happened, spin it whatever way you want that was listening to the people. If they didn't listen to the people it would have went ahead

Just another example of the faux outrage. The whole of the internet is laughing at you keyboard warriors. How many times do you guy have to revert to an event which never happened?

Crying about cronyism and then talk about how great Paddy Cosgrove is, the guy who hates FG because they wouldn't make him the latest.

And of course, who can forget the standard accusation of been on a spin team. How predictable. Why don't you get a new tactic, this one might have worked in March last year, at this stage it is laughable how predictable it is

(cue McMurphy to come with a multi paragraph rant and Francie to start posting with snide comments in each, as I said very very very predictable)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 76,924 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

We know they listened/reacted to the public...it was dramatic enough a retreat to be noticed from the moon. And we know they paid a price for it.

Pretending it had no consequence just makes you look silly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,760 ✭✭✭dudley72

Silly? you are the one waffling about an event that never happened. Not once but at this stage you are mentioning it at least once a day.

As usual francie you can never provide a view from both sides, it's always a one sided view. I provided a view from both sides the last time, guess what, you again ignore you ever seen that and start this rubbish again. Get some new material instead of repeating the same thing day in day out when it has already been discussed to death.

Event never happen, which means they listened to people. Silly is trying to pretend they didn't, becuase if they didnt then the event would never happen. Do you understand that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 76,924 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

The 'event' had implications for the government and particularly FG.

You are trying to handwave that away.

Carry on doing it, it just, as I said, makes you look silly and possessed of the same arrogance as Varadkar and Flanagan, thinking that their actions (whether they succeeded or not) will have no consequences.

The crony attempt to appoint Zappone and the attendance at the Merrion will have consequences too, is the point being made.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,760 ✭✭✭dudley72

    Scrambling around Francie, scrambling around.

The darling of SF Paddy Cosgrove, who if he had his way would be the biggest crony of FG now. Oh the tangled web we weave.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 76,924 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

I'll take your fall back to a periphery figure as a sign that you cannot argue the core points.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,760 ✭✭✭dudley72

Whats the core point Francie? you jumped onto Black and tans because you couldn't make a relevant point AGAIN. Now I have no idea what you are waffling about.

I have good odds with Paddy Power you are about to mention Golfgate. It's all so predictable. The whole lot of it is just predictable. At this stage you are doing the government job for them, you are driving votes away from SF, thank you because thats exactly what I want :-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 76,924 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

The core point I was making is that the days when FG and FF could get away with this are over.

The very thing they claim to be a 'sewer' or of no consequence has seen to that. As evidenced by reactions they have had to make to social media.

They and their supporters (if the cap fits, wear it) will try to demean social media users in their arrogant foot stamping ways but try as they might, it is not going away.

Get away with what? at the moment it was a private function, Are you saying TDs are not allowed attend a private function now?

Demean? I suggest you review your posting style and the recent attacks on Ha Long Bay. Only one set of posters here demeaning anyone and the only reason you took a crusade against me was because I pointed it out. Why else would I have the daily long rant from McMurphy?

Again I refer to social media, at this stage the SF online team is causing more harm than good. I pointed this out, you choose to ignore but as I said, look at the posts when people are bombarding TD's. The majority are for people telling them to shut up.

Its going wrong Francie, very very wrong. Burying your head in the sand and continung with this online attack against everyone is doing a great job for the government. Thank you very much

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 76,924 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

If you or Ha Long were 'attacked' then you have the report function. Personally, I see this as more of the victimhood indulged by Leo when social media goes against him, cry about abuse and attack. Criticism is NOT attack, is the right of anyone to make.

Regarding things going wrong...I refer you to the only metric we have to judge these things - the latest opinion polls.

And you confirming you are working here on behalf of the government is also noted. 😉

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,760 ✭✭✭dudley72

Yes of course I am working for the government. Want me to show my badge?

    Pure desperation now Francie, desperation.

You are thanking people on their behalf on two threads.

You have to hand it to dudley, it was a valiant attempt to deflect yet again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,760 ✭✭✭dudley72

Whats to deflect? I told you a number of posts ago you would bring up Golfgate. I am right on the money.

Sorry I meant "one of you". My apologies
