Going into town tomorrow so will be visiting BT Christmas shop. Normally buy one nice tree bauble (not ball 😂) each year and get ideas on how to decorate the tree. Early or not, their trees are always beautifully decorated and i often try to recreate them at home.

There is an old tradition that in some Irish houses (although now not many), people put a tall, thick candle on the sill of the largest window after sunset on Christmas Eve. The candle is left to burn all night and represents a welcoming light for Mary and Joseph.

In the late Victorian period a tradition grew up that Christmas puddings should be made on or immediately after the Sunday "next before Advent", i.e. four to five weeks before Christmas.

The tradition of a decorated tree is old since the Celts already decorated a tree, the symbol of life at the time of the winter solstice.

In Finland some people choose to decorate trees with fat balls outside and it's considered good luck for farmers to feed birds at Christmas.

For most children in The Netherlands, the most important day during December is 5th December, when Sinterklaas (St. Nicholas) brings them their presents! Nicholas' Day is on the 6th December, but in The Netherlands, the major celebrations are held on the 5th December, St. ... Nicholas' Eve.
