Bizarrely watched this two nights ago. First I posted about it got a lot of stick. But I loved it. As an ex criminal barrister who now specialises (well in something else) was going through play by play of certain shaftings and how they shouldn’t have happened. Actually realised on reading back that I was talking about the Legend of Cocaine Island. I did watch Cocaine Cowboys. Loved the decadence of it. The power boats world championship was the funniest and equally bizarre thing.

Also watched how to fix a drug scandal. Truly jawdropping. Two separate drug laboratory analysts with a Keith Richards level habit who between them tainted over 30000 convictions. Really interesting documentary.

Finally Fear City. This serial documentary chronicling how basically Rudy Giulliani single handledly dismantled the 5 Mafia families using the RICO Act. I didn’t know he had such a fundamental positive change and equally strange to see what he became.

Old School is being added on September 1st. You’re my boy blue!

What I liked about cocaine cowboys was even though they were big time multi- tonne drug smugglers, they seemed like two grand lads.

Half an hour into Sweet Girl and nah. I've only seen Jason Momoa in GoT and on various chat shows. Seems a likeable guy but this is another netflix turkey. When he blasts the baddies with the fire extinguisher I called a halt.

at the start they were definitely nice guys. These jewish Cuban immigrants who blagged their way into becoming what they eventually became. They were just living the rockstar and playboy life and brought all their friends and family with them. I think there was a line in it ‘we didn’t see each other as criminals but normal 20 something high school drop outs’.

they were also very altruistic and charitable and if any of their community wanted something then nothing was too much.

However I think it became clear as time went on, that the goodness slowly diminished. As it always does when people get in the way.

if you liked that I’d recommend operation Odessa. It was on Netflix but not sure now.

Whilst I enjoyed the show it’s hard to see there being much more to show of interest.

I think the first one benefited hugely from landing just as the whole world was put into lockdowns.

Oh definitely it was timed phenomenally well, it was perfect brain candy with enough of a freak show feel about it.

If that's the Alicia Viksnder redo, it wasn't bad. It's not good like, but surprisingly mediocre in the sense that's where the bar lies with video game adaptations.

Criminal waste of Walton Goggins as the bad guy though. Guy knows how to chew scenery with gusto but was off the boil here. Spent way too much time in London too; got impatient for the film to get to the actual Tombs to be raided.

Ya Tomb Raider is decent and yes as when it comes to video game movies they are all sorts of terrible so this is maybe the best one if only by default. Funny it could have actually been a top tier adventure film were it not for the links to Tomb Raider which is what mostly weighs it down.

Yeah, Tomb Raider takes a bit too long to get going but it's decent once she actually sets off on the adventure.

They're still working on a sequel with Misha Green writing and directing. She worked on Spartacus and Sons of Anarchy, and was creator/showrunner on Underground, and Lovecraft Country last year, which was a really great genre piece. I'd hope it would skip straight to the action given the first one covered all of the setup.

Tomb Raider not showing up for me at all. Just the anime one...

Man I thought that Tomb Raider movie with Alicia Vikander was god-awful, I found it painful to get through. I'd say it way down there on the list of video-game adaptations.

Schedule for some of Netflix's upcoming film releases.

Passing on November 10th is the one I'm most interested in. I wasn't expecting to see it until next year but they're obviously going for the Oscars there. Ireland's own Ruth Negga a contender this year again.

Other interesting ones are The Harder They Fall on Nov 3rd, Ardman's Robin Robin on Nov 24th and Jane Campion's The Power of the Dog on Dec 1, and Maggie Gyllenhaal's The Last Daughter on Dec 31st

I was initially excited to read Aardman had a new film out, but disappointed on googling to read it's only 30 minutes?

Those cheeky beggers managed to sneak a football movie past me with Early Man. Was enjoying the silliness then ... wait a minute this is football damnit! 😁

Suffragette is good. Carey Mulligan and Anne Marie Duff are excellent in it. Directed by Sarah Gavron who directed Rocks last year, written by Abi Morgan who wrote Shame with Steve McQueen and on TV, The Hour, River, and The Split.

The first episode of Clickbait is interesting enough to continue with it.

I only recognize one actor in the cast and he's the person that's abducted so not sure if that's a good sign or not;)
