The world was never the same again after this:

Trinity atomic bomb test, New Mexico, July 16, 1945. That genie is never going back into the bottle.

Fingal County Council are certainly not competent to be making decisions about the most important piece of infrastructure on the island. They need to stick to badly designed cycle lanes and deciding on whether Mrs Murphy can have her kitchen extension.

    Kodachrome.

That picture was taken on Kodachrome.

That picture could only have been taken on Kodachrome.

The last roll ever of Kodachrome was processed in July 2010, taken by photographer Steve McCurry who had taken the Afghan Girl picture 36 years earlier.

The warsaw uprising of 1944. This was their attempt to put together an armored car. It was based on the hollowed out chassis of a Chevrolet 157 van.

Not very "woke" myself and I would not often identify with the word "Feminist" but this picture certainly stays with me and makes me think we have come a long long way.

Early signs of how the US treats their War Veterans. Every time I hear of a "sit in" protest this picture stays with me. In the end Hoover (the president not the vacuum cleaner) used his own army to forcibly evict these Vets.

Just for fun. My friends sent me this one years ago when I entered into the relationship I am in now. Its from the 1950s and it was the "biggest every arrest of polygamists" ever. It was dubbed the "short creek raid" and at the time it was called  “the largest mass arrest of men and women in modern American history.”

The police rounded them up and guarded them all in a school yard. Which is where the picture above is from. Who knew my relationship was so seditious :)
