Striking Photographs of The Past Century

I was watching a TV documentary the other day about the iconic 20th Century magazine, Life, which was launched back in 1936 to document the world through the medium of the photograph.
Down through the years and the decades, many photographs have been taken and published which raised debate, made the viewer think and entered the general human narrative. Some photos even started a big debate on the issue(s) at hand and directly influenced the course of politics and history.
So AHers (the ones still with us) - what photographs have stayed with you over the years since you first saw them?

13 year old Omayra Sanchez, Columbia 1985
A volcanic eruption caused catastrophic mudslides that destroyed her village and pinned her legs under concrete debris. Lacking hydraulic equipment to lift the debris or surgical equipment to amputate her legs all the rescuers could do was stay with her for 60 hours until she died.
This photo was taken on the 3rd day of her ordeal, the blood vessels in her eyes had haemorrhaged due to trauma.

Just for fun. My friends sent me this one years ago when I entered into the relationship I am in now. Its from the 1950s and it was the "biggest every arrest of polygamists" ever. It was dubbed the "short creek raid" and at the time it was called “the largest mass arrest of men and women in modern American history.”
The police rounded them up and guarded them all in a school yard. Which is where the picture above is from. Who knew my relationship was so seditious :)
