I've just got an appointment for my second Pfizer jab but I feel it's too soon? There'll only be a period of three weeks in between both. I read that 28 days gap is normal, but there was a study from the UK in midweek that suggests a two-month gap is the 'sweet spot'.

Is three weeks too soon?

Three weeks is the official amount. Four is moderna.

Four days leeway is allowed down to 17

It seems that ~70 gives optimal long term antibodies but that leaves you vulnerable for a lot longer and it ignores t-cells. So it isn't happening

No, 21 days is the manufacturer's recommendation.

I'm getting my second jab this weekend, only two and a half weeks after my first. I was told it would be four weeks.

My son is getting it 21 days after his first, he was told 28 days, but they seem to be able to change the rules at will.

Old lady in her early 80's down the road got hers three days apart. She didnt want to get vaccinated but the hospital wouldnt take her for an OP without one. After the OP before discharging they said to her we bet you wont go for the second one (they would be right) so they jabbed her again, true story.

Pfizers recommendation as always 21. We extended it to 28 to get more people a first shot, its being brought back in. No changing of rules, just changing of advice

Israel is having worse results compared to UK who have the second shot later.

That story is completely implausible for about twenty different reasons.

My guess is she's talking about Covid tests, not vaccines.

Yes this is true. HCW who got it in late Dec and Jan had a 3 week interval and then the extended it til 4 weeks. Manufacturers guidance (or at least trial data) is something like between 15 and 42 days. No need to stress about 3 weeks OP.

Its all about supply.

The trial data said 18-28 days (maybe 21 to 28 not sure; HSE guidance is 18 to 28 days atm).

When vaccine supply was rare we were going for 28 days but it was often outside that when people would get the second dose. At that time all the evidence was saying the first dose is key and does most of the work. Over time; with increased supply and with the emergence of new variants the narrative changed and it became that we need everyone to get double dosed as soon as possible.
