Click on the Boards logo for the latest posts. There's a tab called 'View', set that to 'All' to see all the latest posts.

    No idea about trending.

    Radio silence so far.

@Caranica, ironically Desk and Prison went awol during the migration. 😂

The old tabs that were on the Touch site seem to be gone altogether - if you click on your avatar, and then on the star in the middle of the top banner, you'll get the five most recent of your followed threads (bookmarks). Below those is All Bookmarks (so all your followed threads). After you've first clicked into them since migration, they'll show if/how many new posts there are.

That's kind of it. It's shite.

And pages take an age to load. Which is even more shite.

ETA - gah, I quoted the wrong post! Not even going to attempt to fix that.

My post was addressed mainly at @your desired user name

Even this thread has gotten quiet, has everyone just given up at this stage?

The stuff that's working, works well imo. I actually like how the site looks now that I'm used to it. Once the list of stuff to fix is done I think the site will be improved a lot from the old site.

I'm getting close to it tbh.

I've seen the same problems flagged again, and again, and again (and bored myself stupid repeating myself with the things that particularly bug me), and nothing obvious seems to be getting fixed.

I have no doubt that they're all working 24/7 in the background, and maybe there's non-visible stuff that needs to get fixed before the visible fixes become obvious - but my god, it's taking an age, and I'm starting to lose faith.....

I think it was @Boards.ie: Niamh who said on here that Help Desk disappearing was an oversight.

Of course not, they won't reply to critisim of the move nor will they reply to giving our data off to a non EU company.

But I feel that they have realised they have been duped themselves. From being one of the best run forums on the internet, looked after by many people for free in their own spare time to this mess must be horrible to take. I'd love nothing better than boards to retake it's former glory but in the meantime I want the ability to delete my account, all my PM's with personal details including addresses and phone numbers from talk to messages and my posts in private forums that could easily identify me discussing personal issues.

Please let me completely delete my historical boards presence for over 15+ years and let me create a new profile where I know what I'm signing up to.

There would be a lot to be said for just abandoning the posts made on the new forum and restoring a backup of Boards.ie, as it was, before this change over and then looking at alternative modernisation options, but consult with the user base and run public betas, even if they were just demo forums.

You could then hammer away fixing Vanilla to make it suitable for a transition, or use something else and do so without alienating most of your users!

Please don’t just bury your heads in the sand or tell us all that we’re holding it wrong or something. Sometimes it’s important to recognise something is a misstep and have the ability to admit that.

I wonder what Bressie thinks of all this?

I know how to get to my bookmarked threads no bother that's not my issue!

Issue is I don't know which threads have had new post in them since I last went into them, the list here looks like they have all been unread. The number of new threads that I followed that had been updated with a new post had a handy number in top right on old version so could click here and bring me to all my threads and ones which had new posts were obvious..

Another time travel bug that might have been mentioned. I notice the time on the main forum page is GMT, so 1 hour behind, but the time on the post in a thread is correct. Using the post directly above me as an example.

If you’re on mobile there will be a box with “x new” under the thread title for threads with new posts.

If you’re on desktop there should be a envelope looking icon to the left of each thread, unread threads will have a closed looking envelope, read threads will have an open looking envelope.

There are so many basic functions not working or missing completely and progress to resolve these is almost non existent. Since the relaunch little has changed in terms of real functionality despite assurances they're working hard to resolve these issues. Maybe some small, behind the scenes issues, have been fixed / improved but the big issues remain. Not optimistic for any quick fix.

@Cluedo Monopoly if you're using the desktop version, click on your avatar, click on your avatar again (yeah, that boards-vanilla two-click for one action special feature ... ) and you should see in your brower's address bar the url www.boards.ie/profile/discussions/[YourUserName]

Manually change the word discussions to comments and hit enter; you'll then see all your posts, starting with the most recent, and the option to display more (and more and more) at the foot of the page. Once you've got the list, you search with your eyeballs.

A lot of questions people are posting here about accessibility or features seem to be answered with "On the mobile site... the mobile site on ios looks like something from an old WAP phone i can't see anyway to view my followed forums on there either or indeed follow a forum.

I'm on the desktop site now trying to track down the few forums and threads i followed and i'll have to bookmark one thread in every forum to gain quick access to it, which still involves a good few clicks on the desktop to get to where i want to i.e the main page of a forum to see what's new there.

On the top left on your mobile iOS version of boards there’s three horizontal lines, tap that to see “Categories” or “Discussions”. “Categories” = Forums, “Discussions” = Threads. If you want to view a list of your followed forums, tap on “categories” and then on the subsequent page under the search bar there’s a “view” option, choose “following”. Similarly if you want to see threads from your followed forums, tap on “discussions” and again set your “view” option as “following”. These changes stay in effect until you change them yourself.

Just in case any of you missed it, here's the solution to the unwanted forum notifications (e.g. Richer Sounds - this was posted by Mark in the RS forum).

    Morning everyone,

We're very sorry for the hassle of being inundated with notifications. You should have some more control over notifications from categories now from your Notification Preferences page: https://www.boards.ie/profile/preferences . We will have to investigate further to make this more granular, but hopefully this will start cutting down on the number of (unwanted) notifications you receive. If there are still issues with notifications, it would be best to highlight it in Feedback (this thread was started on the same topic)

Pretty sure that doesn't solve the problem, I think Mark was just letting RS know about the Notification settings page itself. Many ppl have said they have all notifications turned off and still get them. I only have notify me when mentioned and when I receive a PM and still getting tons of RS notifications.

You can turn notifications on or off and the result is the same. 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,448 ✭✭✭Mr Crispy

Ah, I thought it was working. It's just that nobody has posted there since I changed the new settings. 😂

Could somebody please post something over there so I can be sure?

    Haha, sorry! Here it is.

Interestingly, another thread over there (one that's actually about Richer Sounds products lol) has a new post and I didn't get a notification for it. Early days, but fingers crossed.

@Boards.ie: Niamh I moderate the cool pictures forum and many threads there are simply images (no text) but I have noticed that now when posting images only we are starting to see error messages that the post is too short, it wasn't like this after cutover so it seems that a "fix" elsewhere has now caused this to start happening.

Can the image (url) be included in the character count when preventing empty posts.

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
