If its true its just the usual story of stirring up additional trouble in the hope that it will influence the FIA to comedown harder on Hamilton if the opportunity arrives again.

I really doubt any lawyer could have any affect on the result of the race or even paying for damages to Max's car.

Yep his average qualy gap to his teammate is 0.482s, which is the largest gap on the grid, just ahead of Gasly and Verstappen, while "Mr Saturday" George Russell for example has an average gap of 0.377s - the difference is that the Williams is fast enough for that to be worth a bunch of positions but the Haas is only ever good enough for 19th. Mazepin is hardly a benchmark of a teammate of course, but he's hardly worse than Latifi.

It will be interesting to see how Mick does in a somewhat competitive car in future.

Beat him on track? They've been beating him on track week in and week out, right up to the point where he punted them into the wall and put Max in the hospital. It's amazing the kind of twisted logic some people use to try and make the victim out to be the one who did wrong.

Did someone make Hamilton out to be the victim? Where did that happen?

Exactly well said. The only way Hamilton could beat Max was to put Max into the wall. Disgraceful driving.

Alfa Romeo and Bottas have opened talks about a drive next season, according to numerous reputable F1 sources.

For Kimi or Gio though? You'd imagine it's Finn for Finn but from next season Alfa are no longer required to take on a Ferrari driver.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,635 ✭✭✭✭El_Duderino 09

Will it also cease to be Alfa? Is the driver a part of the Alfa branding deal?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 770 ✭✭✭barryribs

Both are likely to be gone next year, with Bottas replacing Kimi and Callum Ilot replacing Giovinazzi

Who is making Hamilton out to be a victim? I just said it's a stupid move from Red Bull, especially if something happens involving their drivers. I said nothing about Hamilton.

Utterly bizarre ramblings again from your good self about something nobody has said.

Another insinuation that Hamilton did this on purpose as well. Piss off with that sh*te. Absolute scumbag behaviour from you implying that this was done intentionally.

Since you like to reply to posts and then run away, I'll ask you to prove that Hamilton did this on purpose.

I'll also ask you to prove that Hamilton was fed a line to ask if Max was ok since you like throwing out baseless accusations because you have such rage-induced hatred for a sportsman.

I think Gio is making a stake to hang around, so it is likely to be Kimi that gets the boot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,635 ✭✭✭✭El_Duderino 09

Kimi is marginally quicker than an aging Kimi who looks like he's totally checked out.

I would keep Gio onlynbecause I think kimi will be even worse next season, not because I think Gio I'd anything more than a poor driver, well inside the bottom few drivers on the grid. I don't think anyone has ever used expressed the sentiment, "great drive from Gio today, really looked like he is getting the best out of a poor car". Alfa has 2 very poor drivers in a poor car.

How long has latifi left at Williams? I know his dad has pumped money into the team but if they've ambitions they'll punt him out. Be nice to get a couple seats opened for next season.

Think bottas would take a drive at alfa, with new regs they might be a bit more competitive next season.

I'm not sure about these new regulations improving anything with regards the slower teams. Surely if the power, aero, chassis packages are well off the pace now then having a bigger, heavier car will compound those problems, if anything being able to get closer makes the top teams less susceptible to them as back markers.

So that is Kimi retiring if that true then. He has had a good run of it anyway Kimi. I have seen Vasser saying he would be willing to go with an all new driver lineup next year. So the pressure is on both of the drivers to keep improving for the rest of the season.

By the way Red Bull have said there crash at Silverstown will cost them 1.8 million.

Especially as there is no last years car for next year from Mercedes, Ferrari or Red Bull that there second team or the smaller teams can get hand downs of. I doubt the bigger teams are going to give up all there secrets straight away especially as they do not even know how good or bad there cars for next year will be except for simulator work.

The Bottas Sauber Link is very weak and is based on Sauber`s rich tradition with finnish drivers. Kimi, Lehto and Salo. srsly?

If this would count, that is then the case for Mick S. As he was part of the Sauber Junior Team driving in LeMans. Else Sauber was with Frentzen, Heidfeld, Sutil, Wehrlein a really long tradition of German F1 drivers.

Is the driver deal part of the Alfa Branding deal?

Id be very surprised if it isn't part of the deal, along with the Ferrari engines

Not anymore. Alfa/Sauber have free choice of driver, before they had to take at least one Ferrari driver.

One week away to the Hungarian Grand Prix 😎

That's good for Alfa as long as they can afford to pay for a decent driver. Their current driver lineup is possibly the weakest on the grid. I'd say there are only 4 really poor drivers on the grid and Alfa has 2 of them.

If they can afford a decent driver like Bottas, that would be a big Improvement for them -big step back for Bottas, but that's where the options are.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,788 ✭✭✭the_pen_turner

bottas hasnt got many option if he stays in f1 .

ferrari, mcclaren , redbull are all set driver wise

i cant see alpha touri dropping yuki and i cant see aston martin dropping stroll or vettle retiring

so his option are alfa , haas or williams

haas is so poor they would struggle to atract ay decent drivers. mick is there to test it out and hopeully move up to the alfa seat . not really working out though

the williams is prity poor. russel is doing a great job in quallifing but the car isnt there in the race. he has a good relationship with williams so maybe

alfa is probably he best option for a drive

It's turning into a great season to be fair...

Interesting now what comes out before Spa on the driver movements and I think all teams ill be thinking about the new car next car, I think Russell for Bottas is happening - Mercedes will want a change of pace and direction and Russell is a hot prospect commercially as well for them , Bottas has been solid in his time there but no more really - agree he has limited options the Williams history is there but it's a poor car , better in the Alfa Romeo but again it's a downshift for him but that is all that's available.

Outside of that I think there will be minimum movement really , majority of drivers are contracted into next year and internal focus is on the new car development - Mercedes seem content to focus on next years car and not overdo this year , it's almost as if they are willing to fight for the title of course but somewhat happy for Red Bull to carry the pace and perhaps the championship whilst they get ahead next year , similar to what they did in the first hybrid era car when they began their period of domination.

Please god get Ferrari competitive again next year it's horrible watching their decline , Le Clerc did brilliant with the car at Silverstone but it's lack top level pace against Red Bull , Merc and even McLaren.

Usually a tad boring, but I think this one might be a bit different with some tension.

Hoping Max puts on a masterclass.

Well, I will be 'hungary' for a downpour there to liven it up.

It’s a bad time for Bottas to be dropped alright, most teams are sorted after all the moves pre season.

Feels like the right time for Merc to get rid, though. Russell has a higher ceiling but still won’t be a challenger to Hamilton for a while yet, and should be looking to be no. 1 by the time he retires.

Bottas will move to Alfa or Williams possibly, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see him out of next season entirely.

Yeah this is a bad time to be looking for a seat. Lots of teams in the first year of combinations. So even a driver like Ricciardo who is underperforming will be given another year to prove himself.

This is why Saward says Ocon did the deal with Alpine now. He was pretty sure Hamilton was going to resign with Mercedes and Russell was going to get bottas seat so Bottas was coming on the market and he wanted to make sure Bottas didn't take Ocons seat. He was diddled out of a seat a few years ago at force India and didn't want it to happen again. A bird in the hand...
