Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

And if you previously did not claim an increment, can it be claimed retrospectively, once, you have left?

    Thanks in advance!

12 months after so if you start on the 1/6/21 you technically should move to point 2 of scale one 1/6/22 and so on.

You don't claim it per say, you carry service record with you, for example if you did 3 months as a TCO in HSE and now you start in HSE again, you will be 3 months into the *year* so technically you should move to point 2 after 9 months, keep a record of your staff number and the payroll email addresses coz it's easier for chasing up copies of service I have found.

No grade's are separate, if you want to progress up the grade's it's via interview process

    Grade 3 – Clerical officer/library assistant/branch librarian*
    24,602 – 26,218 – 26,618 – 27,425 – 28,604 – 29,786 – 30,968 – 31,826 – 32,799 – 33,926 – 34,726 – 35,845 – 36,969 – 39,086 – LSI 1 40,589

This is the clerical officer scale for HSE/County councils, the civil service scale is slightly different.

I'm not really sure what you mean by Grade 3. The grades in the civil service are CO, EO, HEO, AP etc.

In public sector it's slightly different Grade names than civil service, also goes by numbers as shown on the pay scale, clerical officer/grade 3, assistant staff officer/grade 4 , staff officer/Grade 5, senior staff officer/grade 6 etc

Just received word that I am no longer needed in the role I was called for 2 weeks ago. Anyone had experience with this? Hoping PAS will have me back on the panel very quickly

Had they given you a set period of time for the position? (e.g. 8/10 weeks). Don't think I've ever heard of a TCO gig getting cancelled!

They called 2 weeks back and gave the impression that it could take 8-12 weeks after vetting before I would start and it was going to be a 12 week contract.

Hopefully I get another position soon and its a bit longer than 12 weeks, that'd be a grand silver lining

Id say your still on the panel. mail them just to be sure. What part of the country was this for?

Had that exact situation with tusla a few years ago around the time the Maurice McCabe thing blew. I’m 70 oom in cork and I’d like to get the vaccine before going into social welfare or the revenue whose aircon systems are a haven for things.

Is PAS still using the same TCO.clearance email address? I wanted to query the number reached on my panel but the email has rebounded.

I was in a similar position, interviewed and submitted refs. etc. with regard to a position with hse in the vaccination centre. As of now still no further information apart from media announcements saying the centre in Arklow will not be opening. In limbo now!

Hey, It's a pain isn't it? I did email tco and they said I have been assigned to a department and should hear in a couple of weeks. That was last week. So just curious now to where I'll be going.

    Hi there,

I was offered a three-month TCO contract in Meath and I was 32 OOM. Couldn't take it due to a change in my circumstances but hope the info might be useful for anyone waiting:) Was offered it Friday afternoon.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,328 ✭✭✭Banana Republic 1

May be assigned to a shift work pattern, what does that actually mean in DSP terms?

  • Registered Users Posts: 97 ✭✭Beckett99

My evetting was rejected as I put two addresses on one line. Since then I've remembered two other addresses (out of a total of almost 20 ) that I've lived in. Should I add these new ones or would that look suspicious as I didn't add them the first time? They are addresses from almost 20 years ago.

I also don't remember the exact dates, does this matter?

    TIA!

Just an update for anyone in Cork waiting to hear, I was mid 50s OOM and this week received an offer for 16 weeks in Social Protection. I didnt take it due to a better offer, but I know its good to know where they are in the OOM

Only at 50 something? its 5 months. there must be very few positions going.
Someone in cork was already in the 50's oom back in April

I imagine with many working from home people are not availing of the shorter working year.

Hey everyone really worried now as emailed again to Tco email and they emailed back to say I was assigned to a department on the 04/05 but I haven't heard from anyone about the position.... Wonder what will happen now? I'm in Wicklow OOM 32.

Did you check you Spam emails as sometimes PAS emails can go in there and then they can be missed.

Ask them for contact details of the HR section for the department you were assigned to. You can make contact with them directly.

I asked them, but they're going to follow up with them to see why I haven't been themselves first. She's going to get back to me. So fingers crossed.

This has happened to me also apparently I was assigned a department in April but I have had no correspondence from anyone. Have emailed tco and the clearance email address and they are looking into it and will get back to me... That was over a week ago and follow up email still to be a answered. Time to move on now I feel!!

Lola I have been in the same situation. Have been talking to 3 or 4 different people from Tco email and last time I heard she was looking in to it and would get back to me. That was 2 weeks ago and still noting have emailed her again and noting..... Sooo bloody frustrating 😡
Were you hoping for Arklow vaccination centre? There's one opening in Kilanerin soon so maybe that's why we haven't heard.

question regarding notice period for a tco… i’m currently on a tco contract from the 2020 panel, and i’ve been offered another job that i want to take… in my contract, the notice period isn’t disclosed. does anyone know how long the notice period would be for a tco?

Depends on which department you're working as TCO, in AGS it's 4 weeks notice as standard.

I was offered a position from AGS but now they tell me its no longer required. PAS has put me back on the panel. Very annoyed when I thought I would have a job. But Looks like I will still be waiting.

That’s very disappointing, they shouldn’t get a persons hopes up. Hope you get something soon.

I got OOM 378 this year for Donegal. I was OOM 50 last year and didn't get an interview. I think applicant numbers have shot up as so many here are out of work or in precarious work . I dont think I will get called for interview in Donegal this year if last year was anything to go by. I gained some extra qualifications in admin related skills during lockdown, but suspect I fall down on the psychometric testing.

At OOM 378 for Donegal I really didn't think I would get called or even hear from PAS again this year. But I didn't check my email this weekend and missed out. Turns out Friday evening last I got an message saying I had to register interest before Monday 9 am to be considered as 'still interested ' in a TCO position. I only noticed the message yesterday so this year's competition is over for me. The moral is - check you emails regularly and don't assume Friday evening email means I can leave it to Monday morning.

Something to bear in mind for anyone counting where in the order or merit PAS is at for a particular location. Just because an offer has been made at OOM 50 doesn't necessarily mean the next offer is at OOM 51. There may be people put back onto the panel for one reason or another e.g. their offered appointment not materialising, a candidate who deferred their place on the panel returning to the panel, etc...

  • Registered Users Posts: 743 ✭✭✭PmMeUrDogs

If you turn down an offer, can you be placed back on the panel or is that it?

I'm being interviewed soon, and I'm seeing people here being offered 12-16 week contracts. I wouldn't personally take a contract that short as I'd be leaving full time employment so would want something like 6 months.

If I explain that as my reason for turning down a shorter contract, do I go back on the panel or goodbye?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,548 ✭✭✭FishOnABike

I was able to defer my place on the panel when I was made an offer earlier this year. I was still on a Temporary Clerical Officer contract from the 2020 panel and was able to suspend my place on the 2021 panel until my existing temporary contract ended. I had to provide a copy of my existing contract to defer my place on this year's panel and notify PAS when I had completed my contract to request my place on the 2021 panel to be reactivated.

You might want to check if this same process is applicable to suspending a place on the panel because of an external position.

I'd be very cautious about giving up a permanent position for a temporary contract.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13 Jo.Gil

Hi everyone, I went into this blindsided. I have been offered a job with Intreo in Bray which is 1 hour away. It's 14 week contract. What do I do after 14 weeks? Do I get social payment or put into another job straight away? I'm confused? Would you leave a permanent job? Was hoping to get into AGS. Thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,548 ✭✭✭FishOnABike

It's a temporary contract. Once the 14 weeks are up your contract is over and you look for another job. It's not a probationary period for a permanent position. It's a fixed term temporary contract. You don't get offered another position from the PSA panel let alone be put in one straight away.

Unless you have something lined up at the end of the 14 weeks you apply for jobseekers payment like anyone else who finishes in a job. I wouldn't leave a permanent position for a 14 week temporary contract.

  • Registered Users Posts: 743 ✭✭✭PmMeUrDogs

I emailed them confirming my interview and providing ID, three days before the cutoff.

I received a message on publicjobs saying I never confirmed so I'm out of the running. Wtf?

  • Registered Users Posts: 354 ✭✭Wonderstruck

Shoot them out an email, if they're really running out of people in Donegal they might let it slide, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,548 ✭✭✭FishOnABike

I'd email them with a copy of the original email attached an ask them to reconsider.

I had problems with sending emails with attachments to the TCO email address when I was trying to send in requested documents. In the end I had to get someone's direct email address and send it to there as the TCO address was rejecting any of my emails with attachments.

  • Registered Users Posts: 743 ✭✭✭PmMeUrDogs

Thanks for that. I did immediately email them with a screenshot showing my original email so we'll see. Strange that I didn't get any notification of a delivery failure when I originally emailed though
