Hi everyone, I'm just wondering has ever heard of anyone been made permanent after 4 years as tco?

I have but these were many years ago. HR departments are mindful now to break contracts before the 4 years are reached. I doubt it happens anymore.

If you're close to 4 years, keep your head down and do nothing to remind HR that you exist until after the 4 year mark! They should be checking, but with Covid / WFH may have dropped the ball.

Anyone else having trouble getting references? Seems a lot of places don't want to hand them out to TCO's.

I also wondered about this, what is the procedure for getting references from TCO positions? Does it always have to be from your manager?

Don't you have to be made permanent after 4 years? (may even be 2 years).

It would normally be your Higher Executive Officer that would give you a reference.

If you don't have their phone number or email address, you could try to contact your line manager or the HR Dept for his/her contact details.

Hi there, I had an interview last Friday. Has anyone who has done their interview yet received their results? Thanks 🙂

    Mid February.
I did my interview last Friday too and was told I would hear by mid Feb. You certainly wouldn't expect to hear back in 2 working days (especially in the PS!)

Hi all, I saw few days ago someone saying something about the weekly pay being reduced. I have the some issue. I checked the tax credits and my account in the Revenue and I have a new charge since payslip Monday 28 December 2020 to 1 January 2021
    INCOME TAX and USC double.

I have dropped the Revenue a question. There is not any information in my Revenue account about any income other than the employment income. The only extra income I am receiving is the Housing Assistance under Homelessness Prevention Scheme which means I am contribution more than 16% to pay the rent.

I hope it helps you to assess if you can afford or not take any temporary job this year

Also we are going to be hit with a huge end of year tax bill ...about €30 per week about €130 month so 12 months €1,560 which is more than the full salary of one month

I've just realised. I am not perceiving any other income apart from the employment as HAP is paid directly to the landlord and it is already taxed to the landlord. And then comes the GDPR stuff .... let's see what the Revenue answer

Hi all, for those of you in Dublin, perhaps this info may be of interest. I contacted PAS to enquire as to how many people have been placed so far. I was advised that they are currently doing clearance and that nobody has been placed as yet. Personally, I am OOM 137 and am in Batch 1 but I have not received any info regarding completing clearance at this stage. Also, the gentleman I spoke to advised that it may be April/May before my number is reached. I wonder how this lines up with previous competitions - it seems slower than I would have expected.

    Hi,

    Hope you are well.

Just curious if you have received anything since this post from PAS?

I am in the same position of yourself regarding Dublin but closer to 200 in the OOM and have only received the interview results so far.

I am guessing they haven’t started clearance yet with anybody unless anyone else can advise so might give me an idea.

Not having any other luck elsewhere at the minute on the job front unfortunately.

    Thanks all in advance.

    Hello!

No I have not heard anything else as of yet, which is frustrating as I am actively on the job hunt myself also.

I believe they have started clearance but haven't gotten to my number at this stage. They are very forthcoming with information on the process so I imagine if you email PAS, they will get back to you fairly quickly. I asked how many people had been placed so far and they advised that nobody was placed but clearance was in process - so with that in mind, you could ask how many have been placed and/or what number have they reached in the clearance process. The email address is: tcoclearance@publicjobs.ie

If you do get on to them, I would be so interested in hearing what kind of progress they have made since I emailed 2 weeks ago.

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply and advice.

I contacted PAS and the message is pretty much still the same. They have started clearance with some and when I asked regarding current OOM for this clearance stage they advised a similar message. My impression was maybe they do not have that information to hand.

They were keen to emphasize regarding timescale that they obviously have no control over the pace of this.

Hopefully won’t be waiting too long. Thanks again and good luck on the job front.

I’m looking at the covid situation and I am hoping to Christ that I don’t get called till may or June as I’m thinking office environments most of which have an un maintained air con system are looking rather unappealing now.

What number would you need to be placed on panel to get called? Top 10, 20, 30, 40 etc?

I got called last year in July to be placed in August, I was mid 90s

    Yeah that’s a fair comment.

Some will want the list to move faster as you say, others slower.

Personally, I would want it to move faster for other reasons related to not working at the moment during Covid (isolation, boredom, growing employment gap, financial etc.). But I am factoring in my age, general health and living situation in that.

Saying that will also have to see what is offered first when it comes which department, public facing etc.. The length of the contract adds another element to factor in for people to consider e.g. some might think an 8 week contract is not worth the risk depending on personal circumstances.

Hopefully you land somewhere that suits.

It may sound cynical but Im now on 350 pup, with no expectation my main job will come back before quarter three and taking eight week tco contract which would invalidate my pup claim would be stupidity. I wonder if that’s a common feeling.

You could check with Covid Helpline but I reckon you'd be eligible to go back on PUP as your original job would still be unavailable

FYI as of Monday OOM 115 in Cork called to Stage 2 Interview.

Those with a lower OOM and past TCO contract should hear in the next week

OOM 12 in Meath. Had interview on 15 January, results yesterday, 7 working days later. Passed.

Does anyone know the relationship, if any, between place on the OOM and the length of contract offered, specifically on the Dublin panel?

Not sure if there is a correlation, but I can tell you that last year the TCO's that came in after me had shorter contract. Could be coincidence?

I dont think theres any link. Last year I was in around the mid 90s and ended up on a 10 month contract

None, cause that would make sense.
