Whats the best irish car reg you seen
Loads to choose from obviously
One the first i noticed was 00-D-540
It was a brand new bronze volvo s40
The reg was made to look 00-D-s40

Or did you ever own an irish car with a reg that meant something specifically to you

IIRC there was a Corolla G6R with a reg something like 00-G-6 which was pretty cool.

Remember having also seen a few boring Peugot 206s with 206 plates.

My da had a Porsche 911, I don't remember the year or the county but the digits were 911.

It's actually mentioned here somewhere on Boards, by someone who spotted it about 10 years ago or more!

There’s a Peugeot 205 owned by a Peugeot indie mechanic with the reg GTI205

I believe there’s a bit of a story behind how it got that reg, and that it was originally assigned to a Morris Minor or something.

Pretty sure 05d15200 is a Lexus IS200, subtle but actually cool. Not many 5 digit options for an Irish reg.

Back before the charge went to a grand there were plenty of Peugeot dealers reserving 206, 306, 407 for themselves each year.

In Belfast there's a hearse which sometimes attends the 'republican' end of Milltown cemetary TC OL or something, 'Tiocaidh Ar la' Help me get this more accurately guys.

Tipp car 10TN10 (say it). Cute, I remember advising a Tipp friend to book it, in about 2008. He didn't, but I saw it later and said ahhhhhhhh.

Back in the black & white days, every county had specific letters in it reg numbers . Dublin had ZI. The reg 5 UZI was put together sa 5UZI (Suzi) and the Renault 5 Gordini was a sexy little minx. Always thought the reg and the car were made for eachother

Back in the day you used to be able to reserve already assigned plates, if the first car had long since been scrapped etc. GTI205 would originally be a mid 50s Limerick City number iirc.

MIN I (Mini) was originally on a 1969 Ford Escort from Kerry, and was later assigned to a Mini (predictably).

Both GTI 1 and GTI 2 were on a pair of MK1 Golf GTI's owned by two Limerick Brothers. Both Reg's were originally assigned back in the 50's , but the Guys who managed to get them re-assigned were big in the Commercial Vehicle Trade...which possibly helped with the swap.

Pharmacist in Limerick. Brought the Car in himself from the UK and had to jump through a few hoops to get a Leitrim address (but his name) and to have the number held for himself.
He also has a lovely E9 CSL.
