As expected NPHET say no to indoor dining. This is shocking.

Young people have given up enough for the past year and now they want them to be denied entry into pubs and restaurants because of something completely out of their control.

It would make sense if a vaccine was available to everyone in the country but it still isn't unfortunately and won't be for a few months yet either.

Now RTE are reporting cabinet subcommittee are discussing no indoor for several weeks.

I’m telling you my strategy of not getting my hopes up is actually working because before I’d be annoyed but now I’ve got the “what it happens it happens” mindset. I realise that’s not right for everyone but it works for me.

Wow, Tony and Co are some windup merchants.

    7 weeks

    Who's saying that?

Doubt they'll go with it to be honest

How would they work it? Just a red herring thrown in there that NPHET know can't be actually put in place.

I said it last week in the main thread, no point in getting worked up over things we can't control.

Ranting and raving here won't change any of the decisions to be taken in the next 24hrs

We are basically funding one of the most expensive arse-covering exercises in history.

    Nail. Head.

We are too far down the path of no return for the politicians at this stage they will continue to hide behind NPHET and throw them under the bus when the inquiries begin and walk away unscathed.

The worst thing is I think we were catastrophically unlucky to have had a general election a month before this kicked off; the poor results and shambles of a three-party coalition has left us in this situation where no-one wants to put their head above the parapet.

I hope publicans/restauranteurs never forget this and let any of the current government politicians/NPHET in their premises for any type of pint photo-op in future around election time etc.

What a farce. Watching full stadiums in Copenhagen and Bucharest here and dreaming what could have been fixture of the tournament in Dublin tomorrow with England vs Germany.

Looks like Government will try and be pragmatic and go for 19 July

    It's all very sad

Several usually refers to 2 or more

Nobody, I think the poster misconstrued 'several' as 'seven'

  • If the fully vaccinated side of things goes ahead, that's me sorted at least. And I'm young, too!

That said, there should be NO delay to the July 5 reopening.

I reckon the recommendation is a mix of what RTE and Virgin are reporting.
Close for several weeks but if ye insist they open, let them open for vaccinated people only.

Nope. Now if I’d had this light bulb moment years ago I’d have been a less stressed out person but hindsight and all that.

"Several weeks". It was always going to be after the August bank holiday. Tony always assumes we'll start licking tables if allowed near pubs on a bank holiday.

Meanwhile pub owners lose yet another of their most important weekends. It'd be funny if it wasn't so tragic

They are not giving you an MRI - they are asking if you are vaccinated.

    Which is confidential medical information.

Also you'd have to show ID everywhere you go.

They're wearing people down with a long hard slog and the result is people will agree to anything and even be like 'What's wrong with that?'

Have never gone to a protest about anything in my life- I’ll be at the next anti lockdown rally.

The mirror talking about a compromise too but lower capacity. Claims the vaccine only idea is already in the bin

Is there anything to back this up? We just have to take this at face value?

This is like the infamous 9500 cases a day they predicted in March for July

Thousands per day in August with peak deaths?!? These lads are on a massive power trip. It's undeniable. Anyone still defending this??

Where exactly are they getting these deaths from?

Ah ya know Tony likes to keep a few deaths in his back pocket that he can produce when it looks like his power trip might becoming to an end.
