Someone on radio just now made the point that if we can’t open up now, in the middle of summer, with numbers vaccinated rising on a daily basis, then .... when?

Exactly. After 6 months what will change in 2 or 3 weeks time?

Yep listening to that myself. Commentator on the line a few minutes asking very valid questions about what delaying is really going to achieve in 2 weeks

    It's an interesting approach Zackory.

It's ok to share any old inaccurate information if you can't get your hands on the accurate stuff.

    Got it.

600,000 - 700,000 vaccinations would be my guess.

Not saying a delay is necessary without seeing the data but there's no sense pretending nothing would be achieved.

    Have you a better one?

There isn’t one. Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Latvia and Lithuania all have restricted dining to people who test on the spot (some allow vaccinated) while North Macedonia has completely shut down dining.
It’s disingenuous to suggest the rest of Europe besides us has indoor dining as normal.

So two people you know got covid, what exactly is the point you are trying to make.

What I am finding frustrating is that people on this thread are making out that there is no risk and that there are no long term consequences. I'm fine with people saying 'I want to go to into the packed pub on Saturday' but don't turn around and say that just because the mortality rate is low that everything is grand and that it is wise to go to the pub. Just because you don't know anyone personally who has suffered. If we lived our life with blinkers on like that we would have no empathy.

    How is it inaccurate?

    Back up your claims please.

    Quit deflecting.

What a joke of a country we are.

Anyone defending our response to Covid should be ashamed of themselves.

One thing is for certain, i bet it does not look like that in 6 weeks time.

"if you get on the wrong train, get off at the nearest station, the longer it takes you to get off, the more expensive the return trip will be."

Yoi think we will be open in 6 weeks, borderline.

I’m all for reopening but we have to be honest about sources - this map is completely fake and incorrect.

This might be a bit more accurate

Yeah we will be open and they will all be back in lockdown.

We will be laughing at them.

    Tony will be a legend.

Absolutely. They are all doing it wrong.

We are the only country in the world doing it right.

Still incorrect about some countries. Lists Germany as open for example. Germany is very much restricted with strict entry requirements to dine indoors.

A lot of incorrect information is floating around in general.

I stumbled upon an online travel guide to Europe that was telling people that nightclubs are open in Ireland.

I’m sorry but it is not strict. They ask you a question on entry similar to contact tracing here . Vast majority of places just pay lip service , it’s not like a vaccine cert

And the map is illustrating where indoor dining is available not if it is restricted

I mean ffs every year prior to 2020 people suffered long term effects from various viral illnesses, and they have since humans have been on this planet. Do people not realise this?

And then what? Maybe another 2 weeks after that to vaccinate more. Oh maybe another 2 weeks and it goes on.

Still in summer, most of Europe vaccinated and more lockdowns you think. Do you think the vaccines won't work

No doubt a final wave of infection in Europe is inevitable. Will it have an impact greater than a normal flu or cold ? No. Why? As majority vaccinated to some degree

People seem to forget the vaccine bit!

    Open.

Bit like our strict conditions for hotels. Enforced very strictly by Facebook warriors.

I guess I had long chickenpox, everyone should have stayed home to keep me safe!
