    Hi All,

Just checking has anyone bought an ID3 on PCP?

I'm just working out numbers and when I do the online calc on VW, they list the base car as €39910 which seems to be excluding the SEAI Grants & VRT Relief?

It's working out cheaper for me to do a PCP at 0% for 3 years then a short loan for the remaining balance at the end ,
Compared to just one large car loan at 5%-6%

Just curious as to why the Grants are not included on the PCP Calculation?

    Cheers

Dont bother with the online calculator. Go directly to a few dealers with the spec/colour you want and see what they come back with.

I put 4700(15% I'm guessing) deposit on an id3 life 204 bhp with metallic,no other extras whatsoever and the monthly payment is 364 with 15.5k
at the end, now what I've done with my last 3 pcps is just traded in and gone again all three had minimum deposit equity plus a bit, mind you I did have to move from Citroen to Renault for one of em.

Looks like I’ll be joining the club. Put a deposit down in an ID.3 Family 145hp. Just waiting to find out when it’ll be ready. It’s in stock so don’t need to wait for a build.

Congrats, are you waiting for the 212 reg ??

What sort of price did they offer the family for? They want €2900 more for the family over the style for me and only big difference i can see is the reverse camera.

What colour did you get ?

Just went shopping for an ID.3 today at a Dublin dealer.

Is there any actual haggling possible with this car? Sales person said the prices are the prices, but they would say that...

I'm wondering how to to approach things. I'd like to get a Family mostly for safety features (proactive occupant protection, rear camera, better headlights), but the 5-6K difference from the Life seems hard to justify.

Any dealers ive spoken to said the same price is the price, theres no stock and everything has a long lead time from new. Divanes in kerry were the best price i found for my old trade in will give €4k off with nct. The style seems to be best value i can see has everything bar camera which can be retrofitted also has pano roof, 18 alloys and matrix led lights your talking about.

I'm starting to feel bad I only got a couple hundred off my tour now 😂. TBF I got a cracking locked-in trade in price for my current car so I'm happy enough. Western Motors up in Drogheda were great to work with, wasn't happy with any of the offers from Dublin dealers I got in contact with in all fairness. Some were just unpleasant to work with too.

Discount and trade in value are essentially the same thing.

They'll always give you a lowball trade offer, but they'll use their discretionary discount to make it look better to lure you in.

I was getting €14k for my i3 from a few dealers but they described it as €16k because they topped it up via discount.

I’be asked for the stonewashed blue. Waiting for confirmation that it’s one of the colours they have in stock.

The camera is definitely the major difference. Went for the Family cos wanted the sunroof and the camera, otherwise would have gone for Business and knocked the sunroof on the head. Probably should have saved 5k and just went for the Life option 😂

Price came in under 37k after grant including metallic paint. Goal was to keep payments under €400 pm so happy enough with that. I’m not much of a haggler.

Yes I couldn't deal with the Dublin dealers. Ended up with Bradys in Cavan for my id4, can't fault their customer service and gave me a great deal on my trade in.

the online calculator is a load of ****e. I emailed all the dealers ( I do mean all the dealers) told them what spec and what deposit.
12-15 responded. Put it all on a spreadsheet.

As above email them all. If they want your business they'll trade. Best quotes I got were from Newmarket VW. don't be afraid to shop around.

Would really like the rear view camera, but its a 5k jump from the life - I read that you can install it after the matter. Is that true, how does that work ?

Heading out today to talk about one :)

Any questions a first time electric buyer should ask ?

The rear view camera is available and can be retrofitted.
Do you have a home charger installed or have you applied for the grant?
No vehicle details are required for the application on SEAI website.

Retrofitted camera - so literally pay for just the camera and it can be fitted and work as if it was genuine VW done ? Any idea of cost ?

Going to ask about home charging, want an electrician to tell me how/visuals of what it will look like/issues etc

See how you go without it for a while first before deciding, I have a rear camera on my mondeo and I never use it, I much prefer reversing as normal and that's a lot bigger than an ID3.

Do you mind me asking how much discount you ended up getting and on which model?

[Update:] I emailed all the ones I'm willing to go to. Those who have responded have been quite cagey. Nobody has responded with an actual price of any kind (despite me being quite persistent).

Not showing anything on the "My VW" site as yet.

Anyone know how long it takes for the vehicle details to come on the site?

A long time, I believe you'll only see update when it actually goes into production. Mine still shows nothing since the beginning of May.

WTF is the "protection pack" that dealers seem to add on to these cars? Seems to add some non-negligible amount (a few hundred anyway) to the price. Can one ask not to have it?

They're totally optional, an extra that most dealers will try to push

There were 3 on offer when I got my ID.4

    1. GAP/RTI insurance - pays back the full amount of the car or the outstanding finance if the car is written off and the insurance valuation doesn't cover the remaining finance

    2. SMART insurance - Basically gives you insurance against small chips and scratches to the paintwork

    3. GardX protection - They cover the outside and inside of the car with magic goop which stops it getting wrecked supposedly

They were all around €400 for 3 years, I wasn't able to swing any deals

Personally I went for 1&2 but not 3. GAP insurance seems like a good idea if you're buying the car on finance, it'll stop you being put out of pocket if the car is written off

The SMART insurance might be a good plan if you want to keep the car looking good. The car will inevitably pick up some scratches along the way so I'm planning to bring the car in towards the end of the PCP term and get as many of them fixed as I can so the car retains its value for trade in

The Gard-X seemed a bit superfluous given I've insured the bodywork, and it gets some dubious reviews, so I didn't bother

Look at the Business - it’s the cheapest option with camera.

Same here, shows 2021 and colour, I wonder if there are any differences ? seems mad mine would say 2021 model but suppose it doesn't really matter in the end.
