Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Wales the dragon, legs gotta go out

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 16,287 Mod ✭✭✭✭quickbeam

Really like both of these, can we have them both and kick Connacht out?

If not then I'll vote Wales. Not Isle of Man's fault, but seeing that Sicilly flag yesterday sorta put me off the three legged motif.

Wales, because I refuse to let that stupid leg thing win.

    Wales - a proper dragon

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,956 ✭✭✭✭Omackeral

And that's it, Enter the Dragon into the Final Four.

Wales advances to the Semi Final

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,956 ✭✭✭✭Omackeral

We have our Final Four now folks and the Random Number Generator is charging up. It's between England, Ireland and Wales to take the title home. Tomorrow night we will be running both semi finals and then the Grand Finale straight afterwards. Hoping to kick off at around 8PM and would love to see everyone back to cast a vote.

Whatever about the Isle of Man losing to Wales, that's grand, bit jesus Connacht should not be in the final 4.. there has been bucket loads of bias towards them.

100%! It's not even the best Irish provence flag.

    Nah. They've a cracking flag.

It's actually shocking that that Welsh mess has trundled along.

    Ah it is really.

    Ah it is really.

It's probably my least favourite actually. I'd go:

    Ulster
    Munster
    Leinster
    Connacht

(I'm from Leinster, btw, so not being biased here)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,956 ✭✭✭✭Omackeral

I love the way the result is pretty much already known so everyone is being bitchy about other semi finalists :P

Also, Isles of Scilly flag is a masterpiece, shame on y'all.

Reminder that we kick off the Final Four this evening at around 8PM

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,956 ✭✭✭✭Omackeral

Semi Final stage is coming up next. There will be a 45 minute time limit on each match with reasons being counted for any tie break situations. We kick it off at 7:45PM. Hope to see you there.

Merionethshire - I just love how mischievous those goats look with their sundance :D Unique different and fun :)

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 16,287 Mod ✭✭✭✭quickbeam

    Wales - iconic.

    Ok, get serious time now!
Much as I enjoy the crazy floating goats, I'll have to go with Wales for this one, it's a good strong flag with a great dragon.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,264 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

Wales is definitely iconic, but I see more detail on that Merionethshire flag the more I look at it. Look at their little horns being swept back by the solar wind. It's just mental. Gets my vote.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,511 ✭✭✭Purgative

Merionethshire I like the crazy goats

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,035 ✭✭✭BrianBoru00

That's a fearsome dragon - he'd frighten the bejaysus out of the little kids.....
Now I like the symbolism behind them but most of these English flags are johnny come lately's so that s a major negative.
Even though I dislike the fact that the green and white represents the former rulers of England - the Tudors. (Omackeral stop inviting me to these tournaments, do you have any idea how many wikipedia rabbit holes you've sent me down?)
... I'm going for Wales and the dragon

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,554 ✭✭✭✭Trigger

    Merionethshire

Voted for this the whole way through, its like something out of a Sci fi movie where the goats, with shocked expressions, are being sucked through the air into a giant flaming ball of doom.

    BRILLIANT!

  • Registered Users, Subscribers, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47,336 ✭✭✭✭Zaph

Merionethshire - a boring, generic dragon can't compare to a herd of deranged, sun-worshipping goats.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,085 ✭✭✭✭BonnieSituation

Choosing between Wales and Wales is such a dose. Can't they both lose?

Merionethshire just because I hate that dragon.

Wales because a mythical beast still makes more sense than whatever is going on with the other flag.

Connacht prefer the colours and the split is cool

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 16,287 Mod ✭✭✭✭quickbeam

Nottinghamshire! Because it's brilliant in its own right, and also because it's not a chimera monstrosity.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,835 ✭✭✭ari101

I'm still with Connacht, I prefer the colours, I love the eagle meets knight imagery, and I'm staying loyal even if it's to Hell or to Connacht time ;)

Sorry home province but your flag is ridiculous, two different flags stuck together.
    My vote goes to Nottinghamshire

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 87,490 ✭✭✭✭JP Liz V1

I will stay loyal to the Irish and vote Connacht

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,035 ✭✭✭BrianBoru00

    Nottingham is pretty flag.

Connachts flag on the other hand is powerful and historic - over 500 years of use.
    representing the west, defiant, glorious.
Azure blue is the most beautiful colour on a flag and the white compliments it gloriously.
A fearsome eagle to boot representing the anglo-irish class unifying with the Arm representing the olde Irish.
I know I'm a proud Connacht man, but damn. That's a cracking flag.
    Connacht abú

  • Registered Users, Subscribers, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47,336 ✭✭✭✭Zaph

Nottinghamshire - 1) it's got Robin Hood on it; and 2) the Connacht flag is sh*t and I'm mystified as to how it's got this far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,333 ✭✭✭Redsoxfan

    Connacht, great colour and contrast.

  • Registered Users Posts: 184 ✭✭ScoobyDosent

    Connacht ,we win feck all.
    So maybe, just maybe.......

Nottinghamshire is the best Flag in the competition, the colours are great and the Robin Hood in the middle is an amazing touch.

Connacht bias will see it through again though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,085 ✭✭✭✭BonnieSituation

Connacht by far the best one left.

Nottinghamshire is a good idea poorly implemented.

    So for me, Connacht.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,969 ✭✭✭✭alchemist33

Connacht. Each half is cool in its own right and while the binary nature of it can be off-putting, it's also very unique.

And the other one looks like it should be on a can of peas.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,264 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

Nottinghamshire, because it has Robin Hood and because I'm baffled as to what Connacht is doing at this stage of the tournament.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,661 ✭✭✭SineadSpears

connacht even though its odd, I still kinda like it somehow
